FBI was unable to process your finger prints (merged)

Both my parents completed their biometrics on 6/30. I received a I-797C letter for my mom to have her biometrics scheduled for 8/10 since FBI was unable to read her fingerprints.

My mom is a doctor and in her 70's and i think it will be difficult to read her fingerprints. I did some search on the forums also and wanted to get any feedback on what can be done in this situation:

1) Inform the person at ASC that her fingerprints would be difficult to read so if s/he can take do ink finger printing also. In addition, not sure but if the machine has any indication if the fingerprints came out fine or not so that can be checked again also

2) Prepare for the fingerprinting: https://mn.gov/boards/assets/Tips for Improving FP Quality_tcm21-397431.pdf

If the second time the finger prints cannot be read also then i understand that we will have to get police reports. where can i find additional information so we can start preparing for this ? This is for "I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status". She has been in US on visitor visa only and currently has been living with me and my sister (who lives in another state).

Any other suggestions ? Thanks.

My mom received a letter to have her fingerprinting done again as the first one could not be read by FBI. She is with my sister who lives in MA whereas I live in IL. I had filed her application from IL.

My parents just left a few weeks ago from Chicago to visit my sister in MA and would prefer not to travel due to their age.

Is it possible to reschedule their appointment to an ASC in MA ? Would there be any issue / push out the application process ?
