Received my EAD in the mail today - almost exactly 7 months after filing. Still no news on my AP... as a surprise though I also had my SSN in the mail today. For any of you who have received both so far - does your EAD also only show your middle initial and does your SSN card only show your First Name Last Name (no middle)?

Been googling trying to figure out if this needs changing, but it's not entirely clear. Some say it's fine, others say get it changed. Also tried to make an SSA online account with my SSN, but they can't verify my information 😐😂

Great news finally :) For me, my EAD and SSN shows both First, Middle and Last.

It looks like middle name is irrelevant to SSA:

https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110212001#:~:text=Middle%20name%20and%20suffix,number%20Card)%20does%20not%20matter.

Thank you! Seems like people are really split on this. I saw the blurp on the SSA website too and thought I'd be in the clear, but when opening a bank account yesterday the lady asked me what happened to my middle name. 😂 Took a while to sort out, but got my account in the end finally.

I'll need to call the SSA tomorrow to amend my address and figure out the online account verification so perhaps I'll ask about the middle name situation too. Will have to get the SSN updated eventually anyway to get rid of the "with DHS authorisation only".

Still no news on my AP...

On March 8 USCIS shared the following alert: https://www.uscis.gov/i-131

Quote

Alert: To improve efficiency and reduce Form I-765 processing times for Form I-485 applicants, USCIS may decouple Forms I-765 from Forms I-131 filed at the same time.

To improve efficiency and reduce Form I-765 processing times for Form I-485 applicants, USCIS may decouple Forms I-765 from Forms I-131 filed at the same time. Effective Feb. 1, 2022, when possible, USCIS will adjudicate the request for employment authorization first and, if it is approved, we will issue an Employment Authorization Document without any notation about advanced parole. We will adjudicate the Form I-131 separately and, if it is approved, we will issue an Advance Parole Document.

I saw this too recently. Incredibly frustrating that just when July/c9/NBC filers had the combo card on the horizon it all changed. I was hoping to surprise my mum for her birthday after not seeing her for well over a year and that's clearly not going to work out now... I'm still so upset it's really silly.

Nvm me crying above, interview has been scheduled 😭 😭 😭

Still won't make it home for my mum's birthday, but at least there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel now

Congratulations! So happy for you.

I am still waiting for my interview. I stopped checking and caring about my case as it was stressing me out.😆 I have my EAD and AP (not a combo card) so I am good to work legally for 2 years and travel for 1 year.

Oh man I totally know what you mean. Checking every day just got too depressing at some point. 😂 I'm glad you got your combo card before these got harder to get hold of! Hopefully it won't be necessary to rely on it for the whole year/two years 🤞

I just had my first civil surgeon appointment Thursday and got the necessary blood tests done on yesterday. Vax were all up-to-date - apparently for varicella a verbal confirmation of previous illness is enough? That was news to me, but if it means less blood to be taken I'm ok with it haha. With the interview being a little over four weeks away that should hopefully be enough time to get it all sorted before then.

We've just started going through all our documents today and trying to get everything in order too. Feels like this massive mountain of papers and anxiety ahead of us, but I'm just so glad there's a decent chance this will all be over soon.

Man, we had the strangest "interview" experience this morning. Got to the office to check in 20mins before our appointment. There were two other couples in the waiting room also.

One couple got called in shortly after we sat down. Us and another couple still waiting (we had the same interview time). 2nd couple gets called in. Few minutes later the wife walks back out to wait as they separated them. Another 10mins or so later "our" IO calls us for the interview, we get up and gather all our things (brought a big tote full of organised new and updated documents). Then the lady walks towards us and says "oh actually we don't need to sit down. We reviewed your documents already and we have everything we need. Is there anything else you would like to submit though?" cue me and my husband being completely caught off guard 😅. IO then asked for my medical which I handed to her. I said "well we just got our 2021 taxes back and I recently got my DL so we could finally add me to our car insurance" but she stops me as I'm motioning my husband to pull it out saying she doesn't need it (? 👀). Continues saying our file was very organised and I let out the most awkward half sigh half laugh saying I appreciate her saying that as we put a lot of effort into organising everything 💀

The I-130 already changed to approved an hour after the interview in my husband's online account, but there's been no news on the I-485 so far... Only been 5 or so hours but I'm stressed™ to say the least that they realised there is actually something else they might need to approve the AOS also

Sounds like an easy interview. Congratulations! I hope you get approved soon.

Thanks! Still no update so far... I'm still baffled by it all. An "interview" in the waiting room, I mean who would've thought. Also woke up this morning and have remembered that the beneficiary is meant to sign the 485 at the interview, no? We never even made it out of the waiting area so I clearly didn't sign anything. Ugh I'm probably overthinking it.

I received my GC today 🥳 already put in an application for Global Entry and opened some brokerage accounts finally. Still need to make an appt with the SSA to remove the conditions on my SSN and FINALLY book some flights back home to see my family, but it's all just the exceptionally easy stuff now to sort out.

Good luck to all you guys still waiting - I really do hope you all have some positive news soon!

For me, I just approached my 10 months and no interview yet. I just checked the processing times and it says 80% of the cases are completed within 12 months so I think I will get an interview this summer. When I filed, there was a post about someone getting their green card approved in Reno in 3 months LOL. I guess lots of people moved here after seeing that post and now they have a backlog. 🤣

Update: After 17 months, my greencard was just approved today. No interviews, no RFE. My interview was waived.

I am very happy but not as happy as I thought. I was hoping they only approve after my 2nd year wedding anniversary in March 2023. I got a 2 year green card and I was this close to getting 10 year green card. I am still very happy though.

Although I am not there yet, I can understand your thoughts here. I wonder if I’m expecting too much in wanting the same too. A 10 year GC to avoid the ROC scenario. I know I will be happy to get my GC!

After filing in October 2021, with my biometrics appointment the following month, I was able to get my EAD and SSN in April this year. Radio silence since. Until December 9th when my I-130 went into “your case is being actively reviewed” for the second time since November 2021🤷🏿‍♀️
