Thread is moved from the CR-1 Case Progress subforum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves that phase.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

@MaliceDaMeanest thanks for sharing the info, I think this will become the thread I was looking for a few months ago 😁 Did you find out whether you can drop the docs off to the consulate early (when you go for the medical)? I remember seeing threads about them actually being able to be couriered, despite the consulate instructions being that you have to drop them on site. Don't quote me on that though.

No worries - I've not called back the consulate yet, but will do so later this week into next week (well ahead of the medical date) and will post an update thereafter.

Ours just came through as well, interview scheduled for 24 May. Sounds like it’ll be a fun little get together 😄

Nice!

Gimme a holler if you have any questions.

I did the the medical recently at CityMed in AKL and it was pretty easily, though a bit expensive as my wife and I had to get a few booster shots each along with the expected medical fee and x-rays.

Also the consulate said it was ok to drop-off the documents earlier than the week before the interview, and being as I was already in AKL for the medical, I dropped them off same day.

Hi @MaliceDaMeanest,

When you went to CityMed do you remember if they used emedical forms when they did your medical exam? I was told that I didn’t need to do the paper version so I wanted to check with you all. Otherwise I’ll come back and get everything signed again to be safe ☺️ Still awhile until my interview anyways.

Thank you.

Hey @chevin,

Everything was done electronically; they didn't use the paper forms nor the six (6) pictures each my wife and I took along with us - we were photographed at the beginning of the medical. I did ask if the pictures we took along with us were needed and the response was that they'd only be required if our respective eMedical files were inaccessible.

Also, I opted to personally drop off my documents at the consulate on the same day, ahead of the medical appointment, as both locations are about 5mins apart (walking distance); otherwise I would have had to fly back to AKL or courier the documents.

Hi @MaliceDaMeanest,

This is so helpful! Thank you so much! I see now why they said I ddnt need the paper version too. That’s good to know! :)

All good, no worries! Make sure you take your passport along with you, as it was requested at every step in the process (more so for verification that they're handling the right person and file) as you'll be interacting with different members of staff along the way.

I emailed the consulate to double-check how early I could drop off my documents (just to see if I got the same reply as above). Here's what they said:

Quote

I will be in Auckland for my medical exam. Instructions on the website say the pre-interview documents packet must be dropped off at the consulate within 1 week of the interview. Is it possible to drop off the pre-interview packet earlier than that, when I'm in Auckland for the medical exam?
  • We prefer to receive it 2weeks prior to your interview. If you wish to drop it off, it has to be weekdays between 8am-3pm. (Also not during the public holidays)

So I'm considering scheduling my medical 2 weeks before the interview so I can drop off the documents at the same time and keep everyone happy.

Is this too close to the interview date? I don't want to delay the visa being issued if the medical results haven't been received at the consulate by the interview date. But I also don't want to make a trip to Auckland just to drop off the documents!
