Hey! My I-864 and financial evidence was 9 months old at the time of my husband's interview and we were told by the Consulate not to update it. You could email them for peace of mind. Congrats on making it to the final step!!

That's good news, thanks for that! Hopefully there's not some silly 1 year cut off or anything. It doesn't say anywhere that they expire so it would seem unfair to suddenly spring that upon me at the interview. I'll probably end up emailing them to confirm, but I'd hate to remind them to check the date or something hahaha

Thanks for the congratulations! Sooo close to the end now.

Hi there,

Just wondering if anybody has had any IV interviews at the AKL consulate since the start of the 2023? And if so, what was the timeline between being DQed by NVC and getting the interview letter, and what was the scheduled interview date?

For context, I'm awaiting an interview date for a FB-4 visa (along with my spouse as the accompanying beneficiary), so I recognize that this might be a bit different to the general applicants/beneficiaries in this thread - but this was the only reasonable active AKL-specific thread that I could find.

A summary of my timeline to date is as follows:
Priority date: Feb 15, 2006

NVC docs submitted and fees paid: December 6, 2022 (resubmitted on January 10, 2023, due to the need to use the NZ Police Vetting Service for police records)

NVC DQed: February 1, 2023

I'm just trying to get a feel of how much longer it might be to get the interview letter, and by extension, the interview itself.

Any info would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

Any chance you've had an update on your case?

We received DQ from NVC last Thursday (23 Feb) for my IR1, trying to get a rough idea of how long it might take until the interview's scheduled. I emailed the Auckland consulate to ask, who just said to contact NVC.

Hi,

No update yet, still waiting on the interview letter/date. I'm optimistic about getting something this week though based on me obsessively researching, but let's see.  If that's the case you might get something as well, based on timing - fingers and toes crossed 🙂

@MaliceDaMeanest congrats and thanks for posting the update. Nothing for us yet but helpful to have a rough idea of how far out they are. A little longer than I was expecting -- I saw reports of it being within 3-4 weeks, but it could certainly be worse.

@MaliceDaMeanest congrats on getting your interview date!

@kiwipete Keep us updated once you hear back re your interview. We have a similar timeline to you and are expecting to be DQ'd in the next few days. Fingers crossed for you 😊

@kiwierin that's awesome, good luck. For what it's worth (not sure about your situation) we thought we had a pretty straight-forward case, but NVC requested additional documents twice which added about an extra 2 months beyond what we were expecting. Although, review times are coming down now to ~3 weeks. You may already have been playing this game :D it was painful.

If our timeline is the same as @MaliceDaMeanest (28 days from DQ to getting an interview date, then 57 days to interview) we'd expect:

  • Receive interview date: 23 March
  • Interview date: 19 May

@MaliceDaMeanest I know you'd done a bunch more research on this timeline so please chime in if my dates are off.

Good luck everyone :)

@kiwipete Yup, in the middle of that now! NVC rejected the police certificate the first time despite us following everything to a tee to prevent this situation. We resubmitted on the 14th. Luckily they are down to 18 days, but it's still frustrating.

From all the timelines I've seen, the average amount of time from DQ to interview date is ~12-16 weeks. Keep us updated 😊

@kiwipete Those dates are reasonable 😀. I'd only say the range of dates for receiving the interview date, as I've seen based on reports, is between the 18th-29th of the month, and the interviews are typically scheduled for a Wednesday. Of course, all of this is based on user reported data.

Sidebar: Citymed in Auckland is now the only approved place for doing medicals. The Wellington location has been recently removed from the list. Leaving this here, just in case 🙂.

@MaliceDaMeanest very useful, thanks. I was assuming a trip to AKL for the medical, but saw somewhere the other day (can't find it now) a site listing Wellington and Christchurch as options. Good to know that's not the case & thanks for the updated info. Getting a definitive answer was on my todo list. I know I'm asking a lot, but it'd be nice if all the websites/forms were consistent 😅

No worries!

I am based in Wellington but was always going to do the medical in AKL, as the reviews for the then WLG location weren't exactly comforting for me. After getting the interview letter earlier this week, I double-checked the AKL consulate's checklist, at which point I noticed that the WLG location was removed (I even have printouts from a few weeks ago with it listed then).

Additional info (if needed 😀)

AKL Consulate Checklist: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/ACK-Auckland.html

The following was confirmed by the AKL consulate via email to me yesterday:

  • If you wish to drop-off the documents at the consulate in AKL, it has to be done Mon-Fri between 8am-3pm. There's a drop box for IV documents on our floor.
  • You can also include a self-addressed envelope with the documents at the same time.

I need to confirm if I can drop off the documents a few weeks prior the interview (the checklist suggests the week before), as I planned to drop them off on the day of the medical. I did ask that question, but it wasn't answered in the email so I'll try again.

I wouldn't expect it to be a problem, but I'd rather ask first. Will provide an update accordingly.

Gimme a holler if needs be🙃

@kiwierin congratulations! It's a huge milestone. No interview date yet unfortunately but will keep you posted.

@MaliceDaMeanest thanks for sharing the info, I think this will become the thread I was looking for a few months ago 😁 Did you find out whether you can drop the docs off to the consulate early (when you go for the medical)? I remember seeing threads about them actually being able to be couriered, despite the consulate instructions being that you have to drop them on site. Don't quote me on that though.
