Need you help before I send money to my brother.

I-130 FOR SON OVER 21 UNMARRIED WITH A 5 Y/O DAUGHTER IMMIGRATING AT THE SAME TIME.

His interview will be on July 31st and I am a bit confused on the amount of fees he should bring to Kingston with him for the interview. The interview checklist reads: "Be prepared to pay $335 for the application fee and $45 for the security surcharge for each applicant" Is this saying that he should bring $335x2 PLUS $45X2 or $335 plus $45 each for himself and his 5 Y/O child.

I called USCIS and they were as useless as T1Ts on a Bull. Thanks for your response.

You need $100 paid to the paymaster before the interview (they won't let you in without it) and the $45 for the delivery of the visa by a courier service a few days after approval. The $335 and $70 for biometrics will be due when you file AOS from within the U.S.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Thanks for your response but I think you misunderstood my question. This is an immigrant visa interview. Just wanted to know if that $335 is per person (Immigrant and 5 y/o child).

There is no other fees expect the courier fee to have the visa sent to his home. Disregard what the packet says since you paid those fees w/NVC. I know it's confusing but Kingston act like there too lazy to have the ppwrk updated.

WOW.....now I am Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy confused. You are saying that the fee of $335 each is not needed as stated on the packet #4? How do I get in touch with the Jamaican Embassy?

I need to find this out for sure.

I think you should contact them for clarification. I would hate for your brother to go there and be turned away. Here is the website with the contact information for Immigrant visas: http://kingston.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html. The number is (876) 702-6000 and it's best to contact them 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Follow the information on packet #4 and I do believe you have to pay the fee for each person immigrating regardless of age.

I hope all goes well!

I also agree you should call to confirm, but also remember who you are dealing with. Did you or did you not send $380 to NVC for processing of the DS-230 form? If so then I am correct, if not then he will need the funds down in JA.

Also by the way the embassy take visa calls on Monday and Fridays.

I know you would think they would care that they are dealing with people's lives and give accurate information so that we're not running around like chickens with our heads cut off.

If the fee was already paid to the NVC, hopefully there is some way to show this.

The Agent WILL NOT recv the DS-230 packet UNLESS the $380 was recv'd. It's the same process as the CR-1/IR-1. I'm also going to file for my step-son soon so I understand where you are coming from. THe problem is that Kingston keep sending ppl the same old ppwrk when in fact it's not 100% accurate. Try going to the "Yardies Thread" in the regional forum. Those members have all been thru Kingston and they post every single detail of their journey. It's very helpful esp for newbies that are going thru the process. They all went thru Kingston or are going thru it now. The information is very valuable.
