They returned my fiancé passport 2 weeks after the interview. With no explanation, case still says ready. Updated today again .

That’s strange. All the cases of DS 5535 I’ve heard the embassy contacted the beneficiary before or upon mailing back the passport. From which country is your fiancé coming?  What did the CO say at the interview?

Very weird because at the interview the CO said congratulations, you qualify for the visa . Took the passport and gave a slip of paper to collect in a week .

and any updates on ceac? it's almost been a month since our last update 😕 I wonder what the updates actually mean.

Have you guy gotten any updates? It's been over 90 days since our case went into AP and they're still telling us that our case is processing.

Our k1 has been in "refused" status for about 3 months now, and despite sending several emails to the consulate inquiring about the status of the case, we can't seem to get a very comprehensive answer out of them beyond "your case is still undergoing administrative processing and you will be contacted once an officer has reviewed your case."

I'm just wondering how long others have had to wait with the status of "refused". After full ING done research, out seems that refused is not the same as denied, but it just means that our case is in administrative processing.

How long have other people been on the "refused" status?

If your background  checks  comes  clean then it usually  take two months max, other way is to take the more expensive  route  and file for mandamus  in usa through a lawyer.

Is that always the case though? I'm pretty sure our background checks are clean so I can't really see why it's still taking so long. It's been a little over 3 months now.

If our background checks weren't clean, wouldn't they have already gotten back to us and told us the problem/denied us already? No point in keeping our case in limbo.

No, it’s not. It takes various time for various people. No source or real data for “2 months max”. Administrative process cannot be expedited or waived in any way. They are quite common though. All you can do is wait.

It is not just background checks, but additional vetting for high fraud countries.  There is no way to really estimate the duration, and no way to expedite/waive that process.
