Hey all,

I'm part of a few yahoo groups for american muslimahs married to egyptian men and have found the info to be invaluable. I've recommended some groups to quite a few people, so I thought, heck, why not make a list of all the lists that are out there. Maybe we could sticky it to the top of the forum.

Muslim Husbands - Old School group that has been around since 1999. Unfortunatly, it's fallen on inactive days, but the archive has some interesting reads. Both muslims and non muslims are welcome to join.

For the woman new to Islam through love and marriage. This group was created for women of all faiths, married to muslim men. The focus of this group is to learn about our significant others' culture and religion, to share our experiences, and to support our members in times of need.

Wives of Egyptians - Probably the original egyptian wives group, been around since 2000. One needs an invite to join, email me and I'll put in a good word for you. Open only to muslimahs.

Assalaamu alaikum and Welcome!

This is a moderately religious AND cultural email group. It will, insha Allah, be a fun and lively place where we can discuss our collective experiences as wives (or fiancees) of Egyptian Muslims. This group is for Muslim WOMEN (or those seriously intending to convert) only---sorry, no MEN allowed! We hope this will be a place where we can grow in Islam, and also share our stories of life with an Egyptian male---is it any wonder our initials are "WOE"---lol! This list is, for the time being, unmoderated, meaning all sisters are free to post what they wish, within the boundaries of Islamic adab. THIS IS NOT A LIST FOR ***LURKERS***. WE EXPECT REGULAR MEMBER PARTICIPATION!

Wives of Egyptians 2 - a splinter group from WOE, muslims and non muslims welcome.

This is an online community for sharing, understanding, and support by and between women who are married to or in a seriously involved with Egyptian men. Members are a mix of women from all walks of life, of different ages, from different locales, of different religious and social backgrounds, etc. We do not require members to be the "same" (social-, educational-, political-, religious-, wise). We do however expect mutual respect for each other's opinions, perspectives, and unique experiences. We are not affiliated with "wives of egyptians" ("woe") and do not require that members be Muslimahs. Bashing, flaming, and harassment in any shape or form for ANY reason will NOT be tolerated. We want to learn from each other. If you share these goals, please join us; we welcome you with open arms. Otherwise, please move on.

MM2EM - another splinter group from WOE. The most active group for wives of Egyptians at the present. Being a muslim is required for membership

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatallah wa barakatu. This is a group for muslim women (muslimahs) married to muslim Egyptian men. We are open to talking about any and all issues, and believe in the right to freedom of speech to express our opinions, within the limits of Islamic adab of course. We recognize personal differences, are not afraid to discuss them, and hope to learn from them. We fear Allaah first and foremost above all else and live our lives to serve Him. If you feel like you have found the right place, come on in! We welcome you with open arms!

I know that there are many more groups out there, but I'm not a member of them, so I can't much about them. Please post if there are any groups you know of!

We have a women's only Yahoo group for women married to or formally married to Moroccans and other Arab or Muslim men (right now it is mostly Moroccans but we would love to have others join).

We discuss our relationships and how the cultural issues play a part, but we also discuss literature, news stories, recipes, etc. We try to avoid visa discussions. Members must be active.

I think listing helpful groups is a wonderful idea.

I would like to mention there is a Yahoo group that began November 2004 for women involved with their Moroccan loves. We do have a few members that are not with Moroccan men too. This is a very active support group where we share our every day lives, the good and the not so good. The ladies are all involved in many different phases of their relationships; with many going through the immigration process just like us here on VJ. Not all of us are from the United States either. It's just wonderful to know other ladies to share opinions with and to learn from. This is a very open and friendly group.

it seems like these are just egyptian marriage links, not general ME/NA links.. I guess.

Well, since I'm married to an Egyptian, I'm mainly involved in groups for women married to egyptian men  The point of the thread is for everyone to add their resources so we can compile a more comprehensive list.

I use to belong to LAM but found there was so much fighting and backstabbing and no real relationship help or real friendship I gave up. The one woman I knew for about 5 years on line. She was I thought really nice. She got mad when I married my husband. She said I thought you learned from us! She refused to talk to me after. I have had that only happen twice. Once on here where I thought a woman was nice and friendly and now I seem to snubbed. I thought she could use a friend in this area but I was wrong. It is funny...people are odd.

Anyways, are there any groups for women married to Palestinian men or Jordanian men?

I would like the women of the Michigan/Ohio/Illinois area together perhaps one weekend this spring and do lunch or something special. To finally meet in person the women behind the names. I know we all have busy lives , however, to gain a sister as a true friend would be nice. It seems as tho most women are from Illinois? networking to help our families is another benefit. If we can help each other.

What do you think?

OMG, LAM is scary! They infiltrated one of the groups I was on a few years ago and spouted a ton of hateful stuff. From my experience, they loathe being married to muslim men. LAM should stand for Loathe a Muslim, not Loving a Muslim. :dead:

Heartland,

I attempted to create a yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Iloveamman/

Haven't had time to promote, but would love if you would join. I just wanted something more specific to Jordan, but anyone (regardless of religion and region) may join. I keeping it limited to women only though. If it's successful, maybe we can create one for the hubbies too.

baby steps....
