Hello!

I am the petitioner and I received an email from the NVC that the visa petition was sent to the Bogota embassy on 6/8/2021. I know it usually takes a couple of weeks to receive an email from the embassy with the packet of instructions but we have received nothing. I’ve tried emailing them - nada. So my questions are:

- Can we go ahead and schedule an interview without receiving the packet of instructions? I definitely don’t want this to backfire on us since this process has taken some time but not sure if this is the way to go at this point?

- Is there a number that I can contact that would be answered by a person? It seems like they don’t really respond to emails

- Is there anything I can do? Or I just have to wait? Is the packet of instructions suppose to arrive via email to me or to my fiancé?

We might be being impatient but we just want it to continue moving and it was looking hopeful that things were moving along until now.

Thank you so much for any help!

If that’s the case, then that’s amazing new! I just saw this on Colombia’s embassy page which is what’s stopping me from scheduling the interview but I’m not sure if they just haven’t updated the page. So maybe they are just backlogged? I’m not really sure if it’s more of just continuing to play the waiting game 😕

How long did  NVC take for a response after being accepted by USCIS?

About a year for the original poster. I'm sitting at 6 months since USCIS accepted mine and they only look to be moving slower now (I'm also waiting to go from NVC to the bogota embassy). About two months ago it looked like they were at least close to pre covid levels but now no one has heard anything.

I assume you mean take to go from USCIS NOA2 to the embassy. If you mean how long before the NVC lets you know that they got your approved NOA2 you will have to call. The NVC hasn't let anyone know they got their accepted NOA2s that I know of.

So, I just checked through

https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

this is what im getting - but read last part on K1

U.S. Department of State
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
Ready
Immigrant Visa Case Number: BGT2020xxxxxxx BGT
Case Created: 16-Jul-2020
Case Last Updated: 09-Jun-2021

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://nvc.state.gov/interview

K Visa Applicants: Please be advised that you must wait for the Packet of Instructions from the Embassy prior to scheduling your appointment. Although your case could appear Ready when you are checking the status in this platform, if you are applying for a K1 (fiancée visa) you need to wait for instructions from the Embassy to continue with the process. As soon as we receive the file from NVC, the Immigrant Visas Unit will send you notification that your case is ready for an interview and include instructions on the next steps. If you schedule an interview without authorization from the Embassy, your appointment will be canceled as we will not be ready to receive you.

Hi everyone! Sorry about the late response but it looks like if your status has changed to "Ready", you can go ahead and schedule the interview without waiting for the packet of instructions. I've attached two screenshots that the embassy posted on their Instagram (under their Visa Highlights around June). I haven't received the packet of instructions so not sure where the latest one is but I'd say it's safe to go ahead and schedule the interview if your status is Ready on CEAC. Definitely do the DS-160 first since they ask for the application number when scheduling the interview.

My timeline has been:

  • I-129F Sent - 1/25/2020
  • NOA 1 Received - 1/31/2020
  • NOA 2 - 4/21/2020
  • Case changed to Ready on CEAC - 6/9/2021
  • Interview scheduled - 9/10/2021

So Colombia is only doing interviews for Colombia/Venezuela right?  The embassy my fiance has to go to is also Colombia but the NVC said they are holding it because Colombia isn't accepting any applications at the moment.

Nov 3, 2020 - Sent I-129F

Nov 7, 2020 - USPS delivered to Dallas Lockbox

As of Dec 14, 2020, not yet received NOA1

So if this is true, is there a way to have the file sent to Mexico for the medical exam and interview? Our case just arrived at the NVC a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for any input.

I think only if the person who needs the visa has residency in Mexico can they move it there.
