Moscow, and maybe other posts, require K visa applicants to fill out a D-156K. (At Moscow, applicants are required to fill this out in Russian, but are required to fill out the electronic D-156 in English.)

The D-156K is a series of questions that amount to "Are you married?" "Were you ever married? Prove you are not married now." "If you are married now, how to you propose to qualify for a K1 visa?"

Do other posts require the D-156K? How do K3 beneficiaries fill it out properly?

Yes, other posts require the D-156K for K3 visa applicants. Answer question 4.d by stating that you are applying for a K3 visa.

Today, the consulate in the US embassy in Moscow sent me this email:

"Ds-156K is not required for a K3 visa.

Sincerely,

Public Liaison Unit

Consular Section

www.usembassy.ru"

It is curious that other posts do require K3 applicants to file a DS-156K. I wonder whether this consulate is emailing accurate information ...
