Mother went to IR5 interview but then consular said she fail the physical exam meaning the translater was not helpful and he couldn' t understand her. He gave her a 221g notice and said no additional documents were required. She also told me she accidently answered some questions wrong like when they ask what she is doing she said she is taking care of her son's kids when in reality she is helping him in business which was what I wrote in the form when applying for her.

What do you mean "fail the physical exam"?  The medical?

meaning the consular officer couldn't communicate with the interpreter or the mother, he claims he doesn't understand either of them well.

Was this an interpreter you arranged to have there?  I was under the impression that at most consulates, candidates for immigrant visas are allowed to request to have the interview conducted in the language they are most comfortable speaking.

Right.  So unfortunately the friend you brought was not qualified to interpret for the interview.

No, consulates do not provide interpreters.  But they often have staff who are fluent in the language of the country.

You can always interview in the official language of the country you are in. There is no requirement to speak English to get a green card.

There seems to be massive confusion in the first post. I also wonder what “fail the physical” means, if the medical is not passed, there is no visa. I also don’t understand what is wrong with this

It is an immigrant visa, it doesn’t matter what she is doing as long as she has a sponsor. It almost sounds like OP told her to say something that isn’t actually true, which may be what is causing the problem.

Yup, this story does not make sense at all.

Is your mother a citizen of the country where the interview is held?

Is she fluent in one of the official languages of her country of citizenship?

If the answers to both are yes, then she should not have brought an interpreter.  The embassy is obligated to conduct the language in one of the official languages of the country where the embassy is located.
