I do hope it's a seasonal thing and the processing times pick back up come September. I submitted my documents on 09th June 2021 and received a notification on 19th July that additional documents were required. Submitted those on 20th July but now it seems like the processing has all but come to a halt

latest update to NVC time frames, it's moved 4 days instead of 1 or 2 is promising but not the jump most of us have been hoping I think.

Current case review time: As of 16-AUG-2021, we are reviewing documents submitted to us on 15-JUN-2021

image of historic trend for you all.

According to Jacob (see 8:20 on the linked video), NVC is slowing down cases they consider documentarily qualified.  Idk how that helps at all…. Pretty disappointed since I was hoping to get DQ’d in the next few months.  Has anyone else heard of this? (https://youtu.be/GH28twWeEHg)

Just watched the video and that's what he said. TBH that makes no sense tho... the backlog would still be there. Its actually kinda counter-productive. Slowing down the DQ process doesn't eliminate the backlog...it just pushes it back further

I don't want to sound cynical, but I think that is the whole purpose: to make the published backlog of DQ cases waiting for an interview go down,.

The DoS publishes this particular backlog every month:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/visas-backlog.html

And it doesn't look good, especially since it is going up every month (as explained in the Youtube clip).

So I am guessing someone in the DoS said: I want that backlog number on the webpage to go down, that will get some people off my back.

And the NVC says: that's easy, we just have to DQ fewer cases than the number of interviews being scheduled each month.

Of course that does mean an increase in the backlog of cases before DQ but we don't publish those backlog numbers earlier in the pipeline, so not an issue!

pretty much...  very disappointing that these are the actions being taken to "address" the backlog

Current case review time: As of 23-AUG-2021, we are reviewing documents submitted to us on 18-JUN-2021....  3 days movement... still not the jump I'd have hoped for.

so basically it will take about 2-3 months from the time you submit documentation to reach DQ status?  Does it vary based on the visa you apply for?

yes that's what it's looking like, frustratingly if there are any issues with the documentation (real or perceived) needing re-submission, you go back to the end of the queue.  So a emphasis on getting the documents required correct, double / triple checking would be wise.

Yes we did! I had given up too for the week, and woke up Saturday to my husband saying he’s DQ’d (at 5am…and I was totally okay with that given the excitement!) good luck everyone!
