American Children are speaking with British Accents from Binge Watching Peppa Pig

Total trash article from the Daily Fail but hilarious that this is happening. I grew up with heavy influence of the accent from TV and with my family culturally and could turn the accent as needed for fun.

It's also interesting that it seems to be teaching kindergarten level kids a stronger vocabulary.

After Mini-Bone went through the Thomas the Tank Engine phase, he could understand British dialect surprisingly well.

 

I prefer the spelling "tyres" to describe those round rubber/polymeric thingies under one's car.

Thanks Yuna, you made me smile.  I had never heard of Peppa Pig until the pandemic last year.  My wife's daughter and family came to FL to stay with us (almost 5 months) to ride out the pandemic.  Her, her husband, two little boys (6 months and 2 1/2 years old) and their dog.  Peppa Pig was pretty much all the 2 1/2 year old would watch.  I would sit down to watch news and almost immediately get a tap on the shoulder and the word that "Sebastian wants to watch Peppa Pig....  I think I have seen every episode several times!  (And  a couple of episodes of Postman Pat)

 

I've learned some new "English words" like when I was told that Sebastian wants to play with his torch.  Torch?  Little kids should NOT be playing with a torch!!

Well, truth is the father is from the UK, so there is that part too.

I did get my revenge.  When the kids went to bed I made the father watch Tucker Carlson with me...EVERY night!

The ONLY permissible British spelling is the one mentioned.
