Maybe it's because I'm in a rural area but some of the community colleges here are rough. When my husband came into one campus to consult on updating tech, he found leaking ceilings with wallpaper sagging from the damage, outdated equipment, asbestos problems, bad security protocols that had led to many thefts, no audit system that meant many thousands of dollars in laptops that just "disappeared", non-working internet connections, non-licensed electricians doing wiring not up to code, not repaired damage from a fire in the walls, a bloated deferred maintenance budget, people with no experience in tech being made managers... and yeah it just went on. I always remember one story he told me early on in the pandemic of a teacher that lives basically in swampland with no internet connection, trying to teach out of her car from the parking lot of a McDonalds on free wifi when they tried to go with virtual learning (hint they didn't have any structure how to do this compared to a lot of big colleges in the area).

I've been looking into CC's in San Antonio for my step daughter.  There are 5 and the two I am most interested in seem really nice.

Another benefit of CCs is the direct instruction from and interaction with the "main" professor/teacher.  In universities, you might get a graduate T.A.

1) Garbage man's assistant: Waste disposal professionals hire special assistants for important tasks-- like standing inside the trash compacter to spray Febreeze on the garbage so it doesn't smell so bad. A rewarding career!

2) Debt collector for other in-debt college students: Make sure you have some experience breaking knees.

3) Mary Kay double diamond assistant to the regional sales boss babe: We're not sure what this is because none of us graduated college, but it sounds prestigious! Double diamond! Wow! We are told this position will bring you untold wealth within a year with little effort. You go, girl! 

Pay: Estimated $12 billion trillion per month

4) The guy who touches the wire for the electrician to see if it's still live: Well, someone's gotta make sure, and it isn't gonna be him! Electricians are hiring college grads to do this important job in increasing numbers! 

Pay: A polite "thank you" from the skilled tradesman and as much copper wire as you can steal
