Hello, 

 

My Naturalization interview was scheduled for next week, however, I had an accident in the house a few days ago and broke my foot. I thought of rescheduling but after talking to my doctor it looks like recovery isn't likely any time soon. I may need a quick surgery and will have to be in a cast + crutches for the next three months (reason why I didn't reschedule) 

 

Now, I am able to "walk" with crutches (can't put weight on my foot), I need help carrying literally everything, can't open doors, etc. Is this considered a disability, and if so, will my husband be allowed in the building with me? Or is there anything I need to notify the office of?

Bring your husband with you. The worst thing is they won’t let him inside with you and they will be opening the doors for you. I went with my husband for his interview and I sat in the lobby. The officers at the metal detectors don’t care and when we went in the USCIS office the people at the front desk didn’t care either. We both got our temps checked and sat down. I knew I wasn’t able /required to go to the interview so when they called him in I just sat there in the lobby. Don’t stress about it and good luck

Filed: 8/14/17 at VSC                                 NOA: 8/15/17 Received 8/21 by mail

Approved: 10/23/18 -no interview
