For recent AOS interviewees (K1 and K3 only) - TB skin test required?

Have any recent AOS interviewees who came on a K1 or K3 been required to submit a TB skin test at the interview?

I came on a K3 visa, no RFE for a medical or the supplement (I submitted the supplement with my AOS) and my interview is scheduled at the end of August. I keep seeing TB skin test requirements popping up here and there but usually they are only for adjustment applicants who came over as a visitor and didn't get a medical in their foreign country. Just wondering if the district offices have been asking for a skin test from K1 and K3 applicants as well and whether I should just get one done anyway before my interview to have on hand if they ask for it.

Thoughts?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if a skin test turns up positive, then a chest xray is required, right? But us K1 and K3s already GOT the chest xray before we got our visa...

ETA: I've seen one person here who mentioned it: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1029454 Anyone else?

All I see is Section 23.3 of the Field Adjudicators Manual where it talks about stateside medical exams performed by US Civil Surgeons. There is a reference there about TB skin tests for those exams, but not for K adjustees who came under a valid visa with medical less than one year old.

This manual does get electronic updates as I skimmed and caught a reference to a May 07 update linked to Policy Memoranda on K2 adjustees.

I'm thinking someone in the post you linked got bad info.

Hmm... thanks for looking that up rebeccajo!

I have seen the medical requirements for people who did not come over on a visa that required a medical (e.g., K visas) regarding TB skin tests but also couldn't find anything in regards to K visa AOS applicants with a medical less than one year old requiring it either.

I also went through Atlanta office for my K3 interview and needed to supply the I-693A supplement, I was also told that I would need a TB skin test. Tried to argue with the officer that it wasnt needed as I am 1) already vaccinated and 2) already had the xray at my overseas medical. She said it is a new directive from CDC even with having the xrays etc done overseas. Personally I think that she was pissed at me for being late (didnt realise a time difference between the neighbouring states)

Just waiting on USCIS now for final approval and no I didnt redo the TB test just had the DS-3025 transcribed onto the I-693A, so lets see what happens with it. If I dont hear anything by this time next month I will infopass and find out.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Hopefully more people can let us know if they encountered the same thing or not.

I might just bite the bullet and get one anyway prior to my interview.

You said that you had the DS 3032 transferred to the 693, how did you get a copy of your DS3032?

My doctor in Brisbane at my medical there not only gave me a copy of the DS-3025 but of the entire medical. This was unusual (for the entire medical but he was a good doctor) You can request a copy of your vaccination supplement, they should really give you a copy especially if they give you shots. Some countries wont give these records and some countries dont complete the vacs and some who have requested the vac sup later have found that the docs office doesnt keep records of them.

I just made the appointment for my wife's (and sons) medical exams. The lady at the doctor's office said we need to bring two things - a current vaccination record for all three of them, as well as TB test results. Possibly the law varies by state, but the long and short of it in Missouri is that all three had a TB skin test today at the county health department. The cost is minimal and the test is relatively painless. If your SO has not had a TB test in the last two years, he/she will need a new one, and it is likely to be a "two-step" test over a period of a week (plus three days to review the results). Hope this helps!

YES. It is now required. I came over in March on a K-1 visa. I had my chest X-Ray done and on my I-693 medical report it says that I have no signs of having TB. Today I had my interview in Chicago and got approved but I also got an RFE for a TB skin test. The IO told me that since that whole ordeal happened with that guy who came from Europe carrying TB, it is now a new rule to get a TB skin test. I am having my skin test done the day after tomorrow so I can mail that ####### off!

There is a new requirement so you are correct. I wish they would have told me this before my interview today. I came on a K-1 visa and did my medical in Germany. I have my X-Ray, etc. but will now still have to do the skin test. Freaking sucks!

Me too! I was told today that I need mine also. She said that the requirements changed because of that guy who came from Europe carrying TB. Let's all send him a big thank you note!
