I was wondering the same thing until 2 weeks ago when I got a message from the NVC saying my request to expedite my husband's case was approved. He's a Russian citizen and currently, the embassy and all the consulates are closed there. So the only way to get a visa is in another country. We just happened to get the chance to live in Spain for 6 months with student visas. Since our 6 months ends in August and we were only able to get his case transferred to Spain 3 months into our stay, we told the NVC all this and they expedited our case. They only informed us of the interview 2 weeks in advance though, so if you try to expedite your case, be ready for it!

I was worried the same thing, what if they approve and give me a short notice… oh well … the worries never goes away… I heard they call you then you can ask them kinda two months thing instead of few weeks… let see how things unfold…Good luck to you… by the way how long did it take since you requested expedite till you got approval notice?!

Thanks. It took around a month for me. It was tough getting everything together in just 2 weeks. Some documents still haven't even arrived at the embassy, such as the results of the medical exam. But the embassy said it's not a problem and they still conducted the interview. We are hoping the documents come tomorrow or at least within the next few days.

How was the interview? Did the officer go into too much details?!Did he ask for proof of income all over again?! Did you need to renew all your previously provided documents again? Was it performed in Madrid?!

Yes, it was in Madrid. His interview was pretty short. They only asked him basic questions and he actually felt like he didnt get to tell his story as much as he wanted. Also, he told them he brought pictures of us throughout the years and letters as proof of our relationship but they said they didn't need it. They didn't take any of the copies of documents either and apparently none of the other applicants as well because he said he saw everyone go in with their big files of documents and come out with pretty much just as many. The only things they took from him was his police certificate which he had to get renewed here and translations of some documents that weren't in English or Spanish. So basically only the things they didn't have already.

I guess the experience is different for everyone.. sometimes  they'll go into more detail, sometimes not.. sometimes they ask for all the documents, sometimes not. It's better to be prepared though, so I'm glad we still made all those copies and did everything the instructions said. I really hope it turns out ok..
