Good afternoon, I am asking this question for a friend.

NVC got back to me asking me for the W2 or 1099 from 2020 but because my husband is a self-employed we don't have any of those. What other financial document can I submit to prove our income? Thanks

I know this is difficult, but I will keep trying. It will work because, this distance is nothing compared to our love.

10/2013 we met at church in USA, through some common friends. We became friends.

06/07/2014 we went to our first date. :dancing: Why did we take so long to go out? :ranting:

06/22/2014 I said YES.. I want to be your girlfriend... :luv:

07/16/2014 I had to come back to Colombia because my program was over

10/10/2014 My love met me in Colombia to spend my birthday weekend with me. We got engaged (L)

02/17/2015 - 03/09/2015 He came back to Colombia to visit me and met my family. :star:

05/12/2015 We couldn't stand the distance, so he decided to move here with me.

05/28/2015 We got married at the notary. 06/06/2015 We got married at church :D

12/03/2016  Moved back to the USA. 🥰

08/2020 Became a Citizen. 🇱🇷

08/2020 Applied to bring my mom. ❤️

02/28/2022 went to pick my mom to the airport in Florida 🤩

How can he claim to be self-employed without filing and reporting income quarterly.  All self-employed are have to file income taxes regardless or profit or loss.  He needs to find a tax accountant.

IRS transcrits

people are suppose to get 1099 from any job they work as self employed but many do not know this

so,  only thing that will suffice is IRS transcripts for his business and his personal income tax

Thanks for all your answers. I showed them to her. She said the accountant gave her a paper hopefully that works.

IJS - USCIS is always going to ask for proof of income via a W-2 or 1099 regardless of tax transcript

I never send W-2 or 1099 for either my wife or my stepson. Tax transcripts and copy of tax return 1040 worked every time.

That is incorrect.

I guess it is the employer’s (or contractor) job to file and send a copy of 1099 to the person. If they don’t send or provide any, you are still required to claim that as your business income and pay the taxes.
When you are doing that, you’re probably filing taxes as an schedule C and a 1040 anyway.
One choice is to get tax transcripts from IRS which are available online.
