It's pretty bad as a country where the narrative is you feel you have to pull up stakes, or not live somewhere because your neighbor doesn't share your world view.

IMO we are doing it wrong. It's not that hard.

Well with you and I representing the middle of the road here, it's clear that this is not an affliction of one "side" or the other. But as the mor guy, you knew that.

I... huh? Fireworks are illegal in LA County for the most part. If they're not sparklers or set off without a permit, they're almost certainly illegal. It's a big problem here. What does that have to do with assault weapons bans?

They are completely illegal in Santa Monica and LA: https://www.santamonicafire.org/Content.aspx?id=15441 and https://www.mysafela.org/fireworks/

The only fireworks that I got to see on July 4th (a cloudy, intermittently drippy eve) were illegally set off by a neighbor a few houses down.  He brazenly set a bunch of them off in the street right in front of his house.  Good (for him) that no police cruiser happened by, and good for everyone else that a misfire wouldn't have started a house fire in the current weather.

It is just sad that an American would have to live under the rule that fireworks, particularly in the month of July, are "illegal".   Fireworks here started around the 20th of June and continued until about a week ago.

The "big problem" seems to be a lack of freedom.

Sparklers can be very dangerous.

Been to more than one house fire due to fireworks misfire.  There was a young hockey goalie that was killed in MI this year when a mortar misfired and hit him in the chest.  He was a innocent by-stander, not actively engaged in setting them off AFAIK.

Wasn't there a lot of Democrat spokespeople trying to get people to move to GA for a special election a few months ago?
