We hired a lawyer because I am prone to panicking and thought this would be the best course of action, to be honest its actually caused much more stress than if I had done it myself.

Anyway we recently received news that our interviews are coming up, in the next 10 days now, and I have been requesting information from my lawyer since we received the dates. He has just now provided me with all the forms that we sent uscis so that we can prepare for the interview. However right away I noticed that there are mistakes. My previous married name is not listed (I didn't actually use my married name on anything at all officially-no passports, banks, drivers license etc but it should still be listed I feel) and also my mothers maiden name has not been listed. Instead they have used her current name and written n/a where the maiden name is asked. I asked them to provide me with the original questionnaire that I sent them, but they have conveniently lost that.

My lawyer insists that the officer will simply make the changes at the interview and this is a matter of routine and nothing to worry about. But I am worried, panicked in fact, because thats what I do :) Does anyone have any thoughts/answers? Thank you for any help.

My ds260 had few errors as well  but before the interview i had to put error  sheet to be fixed and they fixed it

I had a very similar situation.

I made her ( because she refused so many times) to listen all her mistakes in a document and sign. I showed this document to the person who interviewed me.
I fired her and asked for a refund because all the headache she caused. I get $1000 back!

I really recommend you to remove this person from your case ASAP.

yes its a bit of a nightmare , Im making a list of all of the errors. Thank you!

I know I shouldve really scrutinized the forms when we signed them

When you sign that something is reviewed and accurate “under penalty of perjury” you not only lose all rights to recourse for errors you take accountability for them.  The forms are attached so that you can re-review what you signed.

Ok I will do that, thank you.

Yes we entered in June 19th 2019 on the visa waiver program, we first filed adjustment of status in November 2019. My husband naturalized on the 25th September 2019.

Sounds impeccably timed

So you're saying that everyone that replied above stating that they were able to make corrections in their form are actually lying or something? And I'm not exactly sure what your point is for the last comment, that is documented and proven so yes I guess it was impeccable timing, but also a proven fact straight from the USCIS n400 updates on his case.

Also this was during covid times and our lawyer sent only the part that we needed to sign, he did not attach the full documents. I know that I should have insisted on seeing the full form, and I would usually go through everything and fine check it, but I assumed they were professionals and simply filled the forms out with what I gave them. They didn't, but maybe uscis will be understanding and allow us to add those minor changes in, hopefully, like everyone else has said.

I dont believe the comment was suggesting you wont be allowed to make corrections because you will have an opportunity to do so but rather giving you a 'life lesson' about being careful with what you sign- especially if the document says 'under penalty of perjury'! You never ever want to sign something with out reading it through completely and understanding it.

When you get to the interview the general procedure is they welcome you and introduce themselves. You will want to immediately bring up the fact that you have some changes/corrections for whatever questions on the n400. Every Officer handles things differently. Some may ask what corrections and immediately address them, others may tell you they will get to it when they do and instead go through the petition line by line or jump around from section to section. Whatever way they do it is how they do it. Just make sure the corrections are done before the interview ends. Because the corrections are related to names used they may want to run the background check again with the additional names listed which would cause an additional delay in approval.

Yeah, I've kicked myself extremely hard. I cant believe that I didn't check everything, because its unlike me to not do so. I just finished a complete review of all of the documents and there are 24 mistakes in total arghhhh.  Thank you!

We always see minor corrections made in interviews.

Technically if you signed off on omission of a material fact, expecting the (same) agency that will pull you from your house, leave your children behind, and put you back across the border to be “understanding” about it is and can be a grave miscalculation.

Yes I hear that, I did totally panic and assume we were done for due to those mistakes initially. I thought they were major. I still do deep down and I'm now working on the basis that we're going to get denied.

Don’t repeat this.  Perjury if the wrong IO is in the wrong mood and decides to make it an issue is classified under “moral turpitude” so:  audit, make a list, and correct every single tiniest error while you are at interview.

I’m pretty cavalier with the officers and we’ve dealt with a bunch of them in a bunch of places but I kept and used what I wrote down in 2007 numerous times so that every document we ever filed always says and has exactly the same things.

Best of luck to you!

Yes I've made a complete list of every single tiny thing that is wrong. I have also sent it to the lawyer, and I definitely wouldn't try to go along with it at the interview. I'll definitely take your advice and let them know right away at the interview. We had several forms returned in the beginning for one problem or the other, arghhh this lawyer. I think somewhere they resubmitted these documents and when they wrote them again they just completely messed up. Because it really is so unlike me to have not seen these mistakes. Anyway thank you so much, its a week away now...so guess we'll find out soon enough :(
