Hi everyone,

I've just had my interview done last week and everything went well but the consular officer requested me to fill a DS5535 form.

Now, I've emailed them after 2 days requesting the form and they sent it over on the same day. I filled it and sent it back on the same as well and I have not heard back that from that they've received it or not. I sent a reminder 2 days ago but also no reply.

I understand AP can take months, thats not my issue. But I just want to make sure they received the form to proceed with AP. Do embassy usually not reply back with acknowledgment? Or should they do it?

Thanks,

I'm sure they've received it.  You may not hear back for awhile.

Thanks a lot Jorgedig for getting back to me. Yes, fully ready for the silence before I get an update. My only concern was that I've seen a similar case with someone in KSA but once they sent the DS5535 form they got back a reply next day from the consulate that they received the form and will proceed with the AP.

Most people probably have better luck figuring out what is happening by checking their CEAC status.  What does yours say?

Due to the recent change in language mine says "refused" and last upated on July 7th (the day they sent the form). The consular officer said he was happy with everything but gave me the blue slip with AP crossed and nothing else. Any idea?

Just watch that status.  Seems it can change from "refused" to "administrative processing" to "ready," in no particular order.  At least when you see updates, you know they're working on your case.  Good luck!

Really appreciate the input! Fingers crossed this period goes well.

DS5535 is a black hole mostly used in Muslim countries for extensive background checks.Get ready for long wait and you may have to write to your senator and congressman but even they can't to nothing

some embassies respond and let u know they got the document

some don't

when it comes to the interview and visa processing ,  it is all up to the individual embassy

Hi JeanneAdil thanks for reaching out. Understandable yes, the interview was in UAE. Not sure if you've heard of previous experiences?

Unfortunately yes, I've got no issue waiting as im not in a hurry but hope the process is fruitful nonetheless.

Hi my fiancée also received DS 5535 out of the UAE embassy. I emailed to make sure they received it and they replied 3 working days later. They’ve also replied to my follow up on the case, again it was about 3 working days later.

Not sure if you’re the petitioner or the beneficiary, but we’ve found that they reply to me (the petitioner) but not always her. I always make sure to emphasize that I’m the petitioner/US citizen.

Good luck with the process. We are now 4 weeks into the wait. It sucks but what to do.
