Hi Everyone,

Really excited to start the K1 process.

The I-129F we put together was beautiful and I just received the receipt from USCIS. The problem is that somehow I overlooked my beneficiaries DOB by one year! I'm very upset at myself for this and worried it will delay our process. I've read mixed things regarding being able to correct at time of interview or calling and having to submit a letter of some sort.

I'm going to try calling tomorrow morning to see if I can file for a correction or resend a corrected I-129F. Really just venting here and very upset at myself for this error and hope that it does not add to the already long wait.

Would love to hear from others here!

Cheers.

How will they know the birth date is wrong?

From what I've read, they usually don't... Most of the people with this kind of error end up having their application approved. Some of which corrected after approval and some even during the interview itself. I'd rather be upfront and have it correct ASAP to ensure a smooth process as I imagine when the Visa is generated and the DOB does not match her passport it would be null.

You obviously don't understand the full process.  Any immaterial error in the petition, such as misspellings, typos, etc.  can be (and should be) corrected when preparing the ds160 visa application that gets submitted to the consulate.

I understand that. Mistakes happen. Coming here for advice on how to best handle correction.

Correct it on the ds160.   That is the best way.

YMMV
