I have tried applying for the expedite of my parents petition for IR-5 on the basis of my spouse being pregnant and I am the primary petitioner on the case. But so far no luck with the expedite on that grounds. Does anyone have a positive experience of getting expedite approved and can you please share you experience on what grounds?

Hi @jd2502, my expedite for my parents got approved and my reason is my kids going back in person to school - will make it easier for me if I have them here while I work.

Few in my country also got approved for very simple reasons - non medical. Also my email is very short, straight to the point. And I attached my kids pictures on their first day of school as proof.

We requested an expedite on November 30 at NVC for our spouse visa case and got approved today December 07. Our DQ is October 28, 2021. We also requested an emergency medical visa B2  and got approved today as well. Any idea how this will work out now? The expedite was for me losing our second baby and needing emergency surgery.

Is it true that NVC is only expediting emergency life-and-death cases? My husband, the petitioner. has multiple health issues - epilepsy, heart disease, stents in heart, and depression. We are trying to expedite my IR1 interview on medical grounds (with a letter from his MD) but not sure we stand a chance. Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, use a MD letter we had two doctors write us letters. The stronger the letter the better your case is.

Not true that NVC is ONLY expediting emergency life-and-death cases and I am speaking based on my expedite approval for my parents. Any reason can be submitted.

This is all gambling game. It all depends on the mood of the officer who is approving it and on your luck.

I agree! Someone from my country just put something along the line “it’s been a while, can you give us a break?” And he

got approved for expedite 😂😂

Yup. It has nothing to do with actual issue you are having.

Don’t disagree when you don’t know if it will work for him. I sent 8 expedite requests until I got this one approved after losing my second baby in 5 months. So he can at least try what does not work for one may work for another. So do not discourage people.

But I just checked yours and the reason you submitted got approved really shocks me. I lost a baby and buried one alone back in July and they still denied my requests. This one only got approved because I am in Pakistan and the doctors recommended surgery soon for this situation. But your reason would never be approved in Islamabad. It depends on the embassy mainly some are less strict. My dad has a fiancée in Manila. The request he sent for her expedite was approved also for something minor.

What it has to do with is how concerned the person who reviews your request is. If you get lucky and have a reasonable human reviewing the request  you may get approved for the expedite. It is not easy to get approved for expedited processing. I have sent over 8 requests and spent close to a year at NVC. My case has been there since December 25, 2020. I sent an expedite on November 29, 2021 and ISB has denied all my requests besides this most recent one. I think because I had the strong doctor letters. Plus my priority date is in August 2020.

Hi everyone!

We have tried for an expedite again so I would like to share our details here while we wait.

* Date Email was sent to NVCExpedite@State.gov:  11/24/21

* Date NVC Acknowledged and Replied:  12/7/21

* Date US Embassy/Consulate Approved Expedite: Nothing yet

After reading a lot of responses I expected nothing from NVC for at least a month but we got the email that it is under review in under two weeks. I guess that's good.

Also, is the email supposed to say something like the request has been sent to the Embassy for review..? Ours did not say that just that it is under review and they will send us the result when it is completed.

If you read back to his question, it’s very general which he asked “Is it true that NVC is only expediting emergency life-and-death cases?”
He used the word “ONLY”.

And your answer was

Yes, use a MD letter we had two doctors write us letters. The stronger the letter the better your case is.

And if you also read my answer based on your response, I quoted

Not true that NVC is ONLY expediting emergency life-and-death cases and I am speaking based on my expedite approval for my parents. Any reason can be submitted.

I don’t think I DISCOURAGE PEOPLE, I actually ENCOURAGED THEM to try and submit. I even replied “we will not know, until we tried…” “any reason can be submitted…”

So I don’t know what are you talking about me DISCOURAGING PEOPLE. 🤷‍♀️
