K1 interview in Mexico city

Hello, my name is Melissa I am the petitioner for the k1 visa.
My fiancee just received her interview date, although we are happy that we got an interview date( in Mexico City) they sent the notice July 8 2021, and the interview is on july 22nd 2021..we are also not so happy about it because she is here in the US and I no longer have a job. She also has appointments with her orthodontics here so she can't just leave, it is very important to her.
Is it possible to reschedule the appointment and if so how? I need help please. :( The only info I have found online is that we have to accept the interview, miss it and then reschedule we called the embassy in MExico city and they confirmed that information...it really doesn't make sense to me. Is there a way to reschedule before the actual interview date?

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it's not very easy to reschedule and the new appointment will probably be very far away. These appointments are not easy to come by. If I were you I would prioritize the visa interview. She can reschedule the orthodontist much more easily.

Hello, first time poster here and I noticed this question relates to my case too.  My fiance got her K1 Consular Interview date directly from the embassy in Mexico City.  It's bizarre that they give you less than two weeks to prepare for this (received letter on 7/13 and interview is for 7/26).  My fiance's passport expired so we can't schedule the medical exam therefore we need to reschedule her visa interview.  Is there a special contact # at the embassy in CDMX that we can maybe call for this?  I tried to call the embassy at 844-528-6611, but they said it was for citizen services only and not for Visa interviews.  I also called the US Dept of State Visa Appointment Service and they couldn't reschedule it because it was scheduled directly by the embassy and they referred me to make a public inquiry here: mx.usembassy.gov/public-inquiry-form-immigrant-visas-residents/

Another question, should we still just go to the interview even though the checklist asks for a valid passport as well as a medical exam or just wait for the interview date to pass and see if they send us a letter to reschedule.

Thank you everyone!

Same thing happened to us, got an email June 4th for an interview on June 22nd. Unfortunately for us we needed police certificates from certain countries that require the visa interview letter to start the process and then it takes 4 weeks. it's been a challenge to reschedule. I've been able to reach CDMX on the phone multiple times (once they called my beneficiary, another I called directly). They told me you have to submit a request in writing on their website and can't change interview dates over the phone. Hope this helps.

Hello, did you get the packet 3 before they sent you the email containing your interview date? Is it possible to go for the medical tests before getting the packet 3?

Hi,

If by packet 3 you mean the interview letter and instructions on what to prepare that all came in the same email notifying us of the interview date.

I’m not sure if it’s possible to go for medical before you get your date/packet - that wasn’t a situation we dealt with. We have had a separe issue getting through the AIS site to pay and schedule the medical but we’re still trying to reschedule our interview date first.

Thanks for your reply, from the information on the website of US Consulate in Lagos, they said we should not submit the DS-160 form before we get the instruction package (Packet 3)...I'm confused about what to do... 😢

I’m not sure about Lagos… this thread is about Mexico K1 being moved from Juarez to Mexico City.

The email I received/packet 3 had instructions to complete the DS-160 so I presume it’s the same process to do DS-160 after you receive packet 3.
