Families sue Universal Orlando after mascot uses white-power gesture

 

Two families are suing Universal Orlando after an actor dressed as the “Despicable Me” character Gru flashed a white power symbol while posing for photos with biracial children.

The lawsuit filed on the behalf of two girls, who were ages 5 and 6 years old at the time of the photos, alleges that they suffered humiliation and mental anguish from the separate episodes at the theme park in Orlando, news station WKMG reported.

 

One of the incidents occurred when the 6-year-old girl met the movie character at a breakfast hosted at Universal’s Loews Royal Pacific Resort in March 2019, according to the suit filed June 23 in Orange County court.

See, there's a difference when it's you, since I know you're not a racist. Context is important. I don't know what the context was here. Do I think this is a bit much, this lawsuit? Maybe. But if the guy was dismissed from his job, there may be something to it. I don't know what the point of suing the theme park is if they took steps to remove the guy, except for deep pockets. Negligent hiring? Who knows.

Seems this happened a few years ago and I only know that the SJW's have accepted this connotation on the OK symbol, I assume it is just that and not the letters, because I read about it on here. It did after all start up as a wind up just to see if they would fall for a new definition.

 

I wonder what percentage of the population is conscious, and there is mention of it being upside down. I forget when it became a thing, not that long ago.

 

And VJ having it as a choice, does that mean VJ is a safe space for Racists?

 

They guy losing his job does not surprise me, easily replaceable and to a Big Corp SOP.

 

I am torn about the case, do I really want them to get a big bundle, but then not exactly sympathetic to Universal.

 

Could set an interesting precedent, get a presumably pretty badly paid job, go around doing this or whatever is the case du jour,  get your friends and families a big pay off?
