Is a Tax Transcript Absolutely Necessary to include with Affidavit of support?

Another question that I have and would appreciate a quick answer. How important is a tax transcript for the I 134 affidavit of support? If I already have the w2 to include with it, along with the bank statements from the past year, is it really that important to include the tax transcript?

Will our case really be denied because we didn't include a tax transcript?

Two choices - tax transcript or tax return with all of the schedules and attachments (W2’s, 1099’s, etc)

By your reference to W2 I am assuming you are not self employed

Cases are denied all the time when an applicant fails to provide requested documents in a timely manner

Just to add, do not combine transcripts and W2s/1099s.  There have been cases where RFEs were issued when someone submitted transcripts and W2s/1099s asking for copies of the tax return/schedules that were filed.  The operative term is OR, transcripts or copies of a complete tax return with all schedules and W2s/1099s.  In our case, I used copies of the complete tax returns up to the ROC stage, then switched to transcripts with no issues.

Good Luck!

you posted you will interview Tuesday

What tax information do you have?

IRS transcripts don't need a W2

if 1040 you need W2 and any 1099's

Do you have the above for the sponsor and joint sponsor

My fiance's K1 was just approved last week without any of my tax records/documents at all. My income most years has been well below my current salary, so my past tax filings would not have been demonstrative of my current income. For evidence of my income, we provided a letter from my HR director with info about my salary and position and two recent pay stubs. At the consulate, my fiance was asked for my tax records and he explained that my salary is higher now and that my past tax filings don't reflect my current salary. The interviewer accepted the explanation, and it didn't cause any obstacle to his visa being approved. That's even considering that the instructions from the consulate said to bring tax documents.

I can't say for sure if not having tax transcripts will be an issue for you, but it doesn't seem to be an absolute requirement. Good luck!
