I am filling out the AOS form I-168 and in Part 5, Item 8. It is downloading the file with a number 1 for the total number of household members.  It will not let me change it and scratching it out will not be accepted.  Even if I print the form blank it still prints it with a number 1 in the slot.  Is there anyway around this issue?

Why do you need to change it?  See #2 above -YOURSELF .  How do you answer?

It should be 2 for myself and my wife.

Open the file with Adobe Acrobat.

#1 through #7 are added and the PDF calculates the total and it's then inputted as #8 by the PDF.

No nit does not calculate it correctly.   It should be 2.

What did you enter in #1?

If it needs to be 2 and you have it filled out properly,  then get out a pen and change it

YMMV

Make sure you are not filling the form on the web/online. You need to download it first. Then open with acrobat on a PC.

I think uscis will not accept the form if it has a scratch out or write over.  Also it will affect the bar codes on the form

Quit over thinking.   A correctly prepared form is what they want.    Barcode?  How will it change the barcode.

YMMV

I did. I downloaded to my computer and updated Adobe and it still has the 1 there.

1 is there cuz it's supposed to be there. Just fill all the form correctly and you'll see the total household bumping to 2.
