It could be another CO who approved the visa. Each COs will have their own reasoning behind approval and rejection. COs work under DOS and DOS clearly says invitation letter are not required and if brought will have no effect in the decision.

Another real story, one of my friend's dad was denied for the visa to come to US for her graduation ceremony. A year and half later later he applied again. He went to a temple a day before the interview and prayed the god for the visa. Next day he got approved. So per your logic, that temple made the difference and should he be telling others to visit that temple to get the visas?

No, I am not. One example is not sufficient. That is an exception.

However, if there are 15 different examples, that is different.

You cannot draw a conclusion with just one example. That is foolish.

I am not drawing any conclusions, just applying your logics.

FYI, conclusions can only be made from facts or observations not hearsay. Your 15 cases are hearsay.

My logic was based on MULTIPLE examples.

You gave just one example.

I knew many people who wore striped shirts to their visa interviews. They all got visas. Therefore, you should wear a striped shirt and you will get a visa.

Now you are being foolish.

Really? It’s as valid as your contention. So you mean you wouldn’t in fact believe what some random poster on the Internet claims to have known happens? Thank goodness we actually have official department of state information on what is important for tourist visas to rely on.

Before the mods lock this thread....

So you are saying if i had given 15 examples of cases where people got visas after visiting temples or after ditching motorcycles for public bus, you would have accepted the conclusion!!!! Wow..

I never said that everyone who brings an invitation letter will get approved. I said that I know 15 people who were approved after bringing invitation letters. It is possible that there are people who brought invitation letters who were rejected.

Hi guys I need some help I am green card holder and also I already applied for my removing condition receive my case number and extension letter.

I need to apply my father tourist visa for usa he wanna come here for month and visit me here. can anyone tell me how can I apply for tourist visa and what documents he needed or I need please I really appreciate your all help.

Thank you so much.

Ok this thread has been derailed for long enough arguing over what is officially (literally, officially) not important for a visa interview.  What is important (refer extracts from official pages posted earlier) is evidence of his ties to home. So if he has a job or business, owns or rents a home, family ties etc - those are the kind of things he needs to show at the interview. They may or may not look at the actual documents but some of the stuff will already be in the DS160 answers.

in my opinion it is better he applies (if he can) while you are still a green card holder, because once you become a citizen and can sponsor him under IR5 there is the concern he may stay and adjust.

No, that is not what I am saying. However, don't you think that it is more convincing when there are multiple examples?

Would you draw a conclusion based on one example?

It is always better to follow what the official Department of State website states.

I just made an observation. I am NOT recommending anyone to do that.
