Hello

Quick question. My husband got his green card but was before getting his EAD so he never got a SSN. We call the SSN office and they told us to book an appointment but without a Job offer in hand  is not possible to do so. Anyone with similar experience on this topic?  Anyone knows what to do in the case?

Thanks for your help

You could try calling a different SSA office. Say that you need it for "other services or benefits (for example filing a tax return, applying for housing, or seeking an Economic Impact Payment)" https://www.ssa.gov/coronavirus/

Also reference the following info when calling them: https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/reference.nsf/links/05262021015248PM

@AJC12B  I would even try a different office if necessary. Your husband has a green card and needs his social security number. You may want to try a local office where they may serve more immigrants.

Thank you all for the advice. Actually we call again an hour ago and manage to book an appointment.  I guess this operator was more diligent. The first one told us something like without a job offer is not possible to book an appointment because the COVID situation. ANYWAYS thanks again for the help and advice.
