Hello,

i was wondering. My fiancée has her interview scheduled in 2 weeks and we just received the instructions packet. In the instructions it asks for a copy and the original birth certificate for the petitioner and beneficiary. Would there be any issue with just a copy for the petitioner’s birth certificate?

i don’t feel comfortable sending the original birth certificate as I don’t think she will get it in time. If it weren’t for my work, I would go down there in person.

i can understand why you would be uncomfortable

but if the instructions say  original is needed ,  then they want the original

she can interview and the CO will  give her a 221 g for the missing document

CEAC site will say refused instead of an issued or denied statement /  refused just means in AP while waiting for the document

BTW  i had to mail a lot of original documents and i did as "if immigration wants them,  the case goes no further till they get what they want"

Which US embassy is that? Usually they don't ask for the original evidences of citizenship proof from the petitioner, but if they asked for it, good idea to express mail.

Can you post the letter with this information? I never saw they asking for a original document for the petitioner for the interview because normally the petitioner don’t live in the same country.

Have you heard from the consulate my wife had her interview in June 28 and was approved but all I see under status is READY if so how long did it take for you hear from them
