I don't want to go home

Let me start by saying I love my mother dearly, however she is about to drive me stark raving bonkers!

As I have said before we are about to embark on a journey home for the first time in 4 years. DH can't get time off work but the boy and I are on summer break so we thought we'd jaunt on over and visit the olds etc.. Nothing major a week maybe seeing as I still babysit I can't be gone too long. Straight forward enough right? Not where my mother is concerned apparently. She has already booked a trip to Hong Kong during our stay and to top it she booked herself on a cruise for 5 days the week before the trip to HK!

I figured being the extra 5 days when she isn't even in the country was a bit of a waste so I suggested I arrive when she gets back off her cruise. Make sense right seeing as I didn't really want to visit anyone else in particular, my sisters and brothers are all away as well as the rest of the family she is going on the cruise with. Her answer to that being....NO! She wanted me to house sit while she was gone! :sigh: I've tried explaining to her I can't be gone for 2 weeks anyways because it would mean the poor babies would have to goto another sitter for almost 2.5 weeks the way the traveling works out. Plus I didn't even want to be there for that long! Please lord give me strength!

I always pray, each night before I go to bed, that I don't end up being as completely non-sensical with my son (when I become an 'old') as my mother is with me.

There's nothing that can be done, she can't have it all ways I'm afraid. My mother is still able to make me feel guilty even if she is being unreasonable though so I don't know if me saying "don't let it get to you" is going to work.

She should be glad that you are making the effort to see her

P.S. Where in Cincy are you? How long have you been in the U.S.? I officially made the move at the end of March!

We're just North of Cincinnati in a little town called Trenton. As for the trip, the new twist in the story is she grilled me about my passport and our son's passport, are they valid? more than 6 months? Did you change your name? I called my sister this morning and mom is going nuts because her passport is going to expire during her little vacation! So everything is on hold until she sorts that out!

I had such a blissful weekend without my mother calling everyday. It all started again on Tuesday She's sorted out her little 'problem' and has BOOKED my tickets for me to Hong Kong for the 1st-9th. So I've spent the last 48 hours TRYING to find tickets to fly over to England. I finally got them booked, I am no longer house sitting *joy* 9 days in HK and maybe 5 days in England then back to the grind!
