Waiting for CR/N400 combo approval

I had a Combo interview for CR & N400 in Chicago Office in the end of May

Initially I was told that they cannot approve my Condition Removal as I could not show residence proof for first 6 months of my stay in US.

I didn't think that would be a problem because we have been married for more than 5 years and just arrived in US 3 years back.

It seems that from USCIS perspective, the marriage length doesn't matter what matters is to show that you have been staying together in US for full 3 years after arriving in US on CR1. It doesnt matter if you have bee staying together for as many years before arriving to US.

We continued with N400 interview and towards the end I showed them additional proof on phone, to which they agreed.

Conclusion: - I was handed over a paper saying "Decision could not be reached". I was told that they are not able to update in the system right now, but it will be updated by end of day.

I reconfirmed and asked, by when should I expect an Oath. I was told  i should expect in 4 to 6 weeks.

That timeline has passed and I have no communication from USCIS.

I sent them a message but I got a standard reply saying the case is within processing time of 6 months.

I understand it is a wait game, just getting fraustrated.

Any thoughts on what can I do or when/what should I expect.

That is where the problem may lie.

Did you file N400 online or paper? Because if you filed online, it would have told you if you met residency at time of filing, not at time of adjudication.

Additionally, I believe there is an online calculator that you could have used. If you did not meet residency at time of filing, the application will be denied.

If I can make an assumption, based on Chicago timeframe and current 1 year wait from filing to interview for N400,  if you filed last year, then you did not meet the requirement as you would have just been in the US for 2 years at time of filing.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Thank you Timona

I filed online and I already had my interview. which means the eligibility is not a issue here.

I am just waiting to get an oath ceremony schedule. Wonder how long should I expect to wait.

I'd call them. Explain the whole story. They might be able to move your case. If the officer said 4-6 weeks and that time has passed, then it can't hurt to call them.

Yes. There is a topic thread in here somewhere that gave advice, which I used, to get through. I'll see if I can find it and post, because it got me through right away.

Thank you, I was able to get through the phone.

They replied saying "Even if the Interviewer said you are approved, it can 120 days for them to reach a decision"

They suggested to wait for atleast 90 days from the interview.

I guess, i dont have any other option than to wait.

At least you know, now, though. It's stressful waiting. Not sure there's always a reason for it. But they told you to wait 90 days from interview date, so I'd just wait until then and call back on day 91. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, and all that.
Personally, I think I would have responded with, "If he said I'm approved, then isn't that the decision?" But that's me.

Thank you for your feedback

I applied online and met all the criteria's .

Issue that was brought up in the interview was that after i landed in US, i was staying at a friends house and for those few months i did not have anything to prove that we are living together.

Due to this, they could not approve my Green card condition removal - hence N400 could not be approved.

My only takeaway here is - do not ignore when all the post say take as much documentation with you as possible

however, after exact 3 months - i got my N400 approved and status changed to "you will be scheduled for oath ceremony"
