Interview scheduled right after our move

We finally got our interview scheduled at SF office. ironically it will be 10 days after we move.

We are still living in CA until 17th which is our official moving date. I was planning to do the uscis address change closer to the move and now this happened.

Interview is scheduled July 27th.

What should we do? We’re willing to fly back here and we still have property until August 1st we can stay at to do the interview.. is it even allowed? Or do I have to go to the back of the line again in my new state? I’ve been waiting for this interview date for over a year now. Really really don’t feel like waiting another 6+ months or so for an interview in our new state.

@Moonc congrats on finally getting your interview scheduled. If you change your address now or anytime before the interview, USCIS will cancel your interview. I believe the system does it automatically.

There is no way to know whether you will go to the back of the line, the middle or to be next in line. It all depends upon how busy the other field office is. USCIS schedules interviews 4 to 6 weeks out. I would think it would be at least a good 2 to 3 months.

Option A. You move forward with the interview and update the address with the officer during the interview. You have the property until August 1st. You can stay there, of course. You can also show the officer your lease, etc.

Option B. If rescheduling gets you closer to your 2 year marriage anniversary or past it, then I would file the change of address either now or around the 20th. If USCIS adjudicates your case on or after your 2nd year marriage anniversary, you would get then a 10 year green card. That is something to consider. Removal of conditions is taking a long time at most service centers.

It's all up to you. :)

Ok, @Moonc, just saw one of your earlier posts. You got married 12/02/2019. Again, there is no way to know if they would schedule you right away or close to your 2 year anniversary.

We were scheduled a couple of months before our 2 year anniversary and we just took it. Filed for ROC 2 months ago. It's life. :)

Thank you for your response!

We filed AOS January 2020 so we’ve been waiting almost 1,5 years. I doubt we could hit the 2 year mark even if we reschedule in the new state. We’ll be moving to TX and I think their processing times are not as bad as in SF, so I’d guess rescheduling would give us +2 months or so. I would definitely lean more into rescheduling if we were closer to December. Most likely the interview would still be in 2021 so it would mean more unnecessary waiting.

Luckily Uscis has our PO Box address in CA so I wouldn’t have to panic about my GC getting mailed to a wrong place.

That makes sense. I would then update the address with the officer during the interview. I would still ask the officer if you should fill out the AR-11 online. All the best!  :)
