Ok thank you , we will submit her birth certificate as she has an expired passport only. Also just off the subject slightly do I have to submit an original copy of my marriage certificate not a photocopy?

Never, EVER, submit original copies of documentation.

I said:

"if" my joint sponsor (my mother in-law) on her own makes $36,500 .

I didn't say it was exactly what she makes .

Thank you 😊

Not being mean, but there is a grammar mistake that led to a misinterpretation. It's a hypothetical clause, so the correct way to say it is "If my mother in law on her own MADE $36,500.

not to be mean either, but I thought this was an immigration information site not correct your grammar site. I can understand if the OP was completing something online directly for immigration and she made a mistake , but really, this a information page why are people getting upset over something like this . Not a big deal people. Is it really necessary to make such a huge deal out it?

No one has made a huge deal.  The comment you quoted was made simply to illustrate how OP's use of grammar led to confusion which later was clarified.   The quality of information people receive here is directly related to the quality of information they provide.

Nobody is getting upset, but we use language to communicate and sometimes, like in this case, a grammar misuse can lead to confusion. And confusion when filing an affidavit of support can be very problematic, so in order to give proper advice, we need to understand the full case scenario. Grammar matters.
