Hi,

My husband‘s mother who is a widower would like to come visit us for the birth of our daughter.  We are trying to figure out if this is a possibility?

Facts:

1) she owns her own apartment in Morocco

2) she is retired, in her 60’s

3) she does not have a lot of $ in her bank acct.  we could easily provide her with $ to put well ahead of her interview if it would help

4) my husband can be her sponsor, however it seems like that might hurt more than help…

5) she has 0 desire to overstay her visa if she were to get it, but how do we prove that

Questions:

1) is it better for her to sponsor herself?

2) if so, how much $ should she have in her account?

3) if my husband sponsors her, will that for sure harm her chances

4) is there anything else we could do to give her strong ties to her country?

TIA!!

Hi,

My husband‘s mother who is a widower would like to come visit us for the birth of our daughter.  We are trying to figure out if this is a possibility?

Facts:

1) she owns her own apartment in Morocco   This is good.

2) she is retired, in her 60’s

3) she does not have a lot of $ in her bank acct.  we could easily provide her with $ to put well ahead of her interview if it would help  A sudden influx of cash deposit into an account will not help.  Think about how that looks.....

4) my husband can be her sponsor, however it seems like that might hurt more than help…   ?  There is no sponsorship for B2 visa

5) she has 0 desire to overstay her visa if she were to get it, but how do we prove that  You cannot.  She has to qualify on her own merits of ties to home.

Questions:

1) is it better for her to sponsor herself?  See above.

2) if so, how much $ should she have in her account?  Whatever she has, she has.

3) if my husband sponsors her, will that for sure harm her chances  See above.  Not sure where all the confusion about 'sponsorship' for a B visa comes from.

4) is there anything else we could do to give her strong ties to her country?   Nope.

TIA!!

She applies and interviews, that's it.  You and your husband really play no part in it.  She needs to show ties to home and reasons why she will return home.  Does she have other family at home?

she has to sponsor herself although many fill out the petition for the B1 for a parent

she owns property and a bank account so its a plus

she needs to prove in interview intent to return to Morocco

she should not say she is coming to help with the baby as that is work and she is not allowed to work in the US

she can say she wants to see new grandbaby but has other kids (grandchildren ) in Morocco and wants to return for them

it is normal for US in USA to pay for expenses of travel so propbably not an issue as long as she can prove she will return

make sure is she gets the visa her plane ticket is roundtrip or immigration can turn her away if one way ticket

and at this time Casa is not interviewing for B1 visa /  i think the soonest one VJ member was able to schedule an interview was in October

so,  she may not be here for the birth

BTW  she can interview in Arabic or French /  it is accepted for tourist visa interviews

I understand that some other countries require sponsors, may be Morocco does, so assume that is how the issue comes up.

I have never visited a country that requires a sponsor, think I have managed 30 plus and with the exception of a couple never knew anybody in those countries who could have sponsored me.

I would only recommend saying this if it is true.  Never lie or make stuff up in visa interviews.

Not sure if the requirements are country specific. In Nepal, the non immigrant visa interview confirmation letter specifically mentions something like "Do not bring any letter of invitation, financial documents, property valuation,.... . The security will keep those docs if brought"

My non working aged parents were both approved for visitor visas with simple few questions on why you are going to US and not a single question about who's paying for the trip or about any ties to the country.

Good luck.

morocco does not take letter of invitation or sponsorship of tourist visa

family here can buy plane ticket and house the visitor but not send financial documents (if that makes any sense ) to say they are applying for the person
