Immigrant VISA interview timeline/backlog

My wife, US citizen, petitioned for her sister for an immigrant Visa.  NVC says all paperwork is complete and NVC will schedule interview with embassy in Lima; that was 4 months ago; and she is still waiting for an interview to be scheduled.  While I realize they are severely backlogged due to COVID, unlike the VISA bulletin, NVC and embassy are not providing even a vague timeline.

Curious if anyone has a sense of the timeline.  I realize siblings of US citizens are low in the priority list, but I would be curious to hear timelines for anyone at this point.  Thanks!

When did your wife file the I-130?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

you have no timeline on your profile to tell us when your wife came and when she become a USC

that would have helped the VJ community answer the question

I added some relevant timeline information I hope helps.  National Visa Center (NVC) in Portsmouth, NH notified us on 4/27/2021 all documents are complete and NVC will schedule an interview with embassy in Lima.  Still waiting on that interview to be scheduled.

We filed the I-130 in late 2006.  As shown at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition.html we have completed everything thru Step 9, with all documents indicated as complete by NVC on April 27, 2021.  We are trying to get a sense of when NVC will schedule the interview with the embassy for Step 11.

If you petitioned late in 2006, then their priority date is current and a visa number is available. I suspect you are stuck at NVC due to backlog at the USEM in Lima due to Covid. Many many other countries are facing these backlogs.

We are definitely stuck at NVC (status on our account shows that).  Just wish, similar to Visa bulletin, they would give even a vague timeline.  They say they are scheduling interviews and have a plan/priority methodology, https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/immigrant-visa-prioritization.html.  Would be helpful if we knew backlog was on the order of 3 months or 13 months or something longer.

"Due to the health conditions in Peru, Immigrant Visa appointment availability remains at much lower levels than before the pandemic."

--------

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone can give you specific timeline beyond what the USEM and NVC is stating. Again, Covid threw a wrench in everything and the immigration system is adapting as we go. Now there's that delta variant dominating news around the world.

I did find this, https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/visas-backlog.html, while not country specific it at least gives a sense of where things are at globally.

Yes, a rough estimate would be nice. We are in line at NVC for an interview, just waiting for embassy to request our file. We are IR-1 and completed at NVC February 9, 2021 (5 months today). We are estimating probably a year before the interview but who knows, could be less, could be more.

We should definitely stay in touch here.  We completed NVC about a month after you did.  You will kind of be the canary in the coal mine for me, so to speak.
