My fiance's k1 visa interview is coming up for the Sydney, Australia consulate, we've done everything so far. My question is, does she need a police certificate that includes fingerprints, or can she just get a name check that discloses all of her information?

Anyone have any answers, regarding Melbourne police certificates?

From what I've researched, it's best to get the;

Full Disclosure Police Certificate - Code Number 33 for Immigration/Citizenship– for Supply to the Department of Home Affairs - this includes fingerprints.

You can get the form online, print it and fill it out:
https://afpnationalpolicechecks.converga.com.au/images/afp/npc_offline_form.pdf

Then go to your local police station, they take your fingerprints, (it's around AU$35) and they give you a copy of your fingerprints.

With your filled police check form, add the photocopies of your identification documents, and your fingerprints. Include a money order, cheque or credit card information (the police check will cost around AU$99.00 when they process your application).

Mail it all to the Australian Federal Police address:

Australian Federal Police

Criminal Records

Locked Bag 8550

CANBERRA CITY ACT 2601

The total cost for the check and fingerprints is around AU$140.

It took 2-4 weeks (from memory) for them to get the police check back to me.

I know Code Number 35 says it is for 'Overseas Visa', however I've continually read on VJ it's best to get the Code 33.

I don't remember why exactly. Perhaps because it includes fingerprints. Maybe someone else can clarify that. But there are more recent threads on VJ about this.

I just consulted with some legal help, and they clarified it for me. Thanks for your response.
