got it , but the question is what if the extension letter itself expired , what we do if we need to travel or for work ?

Apply for ADIT stamp. Some people have had success by chatting with Emma on usics’s website and typing infopass to get a live agent.

I think if you are waiting longer than 24 months, you need to do an Info pass appointment for travel to get a stamp. For work, not sure...I am hoping we won't see too many of those cases 😕

Got the 24 month extension today. the original letter said vermont service center, but the outside envelope had a Missouri address.

Also interesting that I was traveling with the 18 month extension and entered the US *yesterday* with the 18 month extension and the expired GC. The 24 month extension was already issued a week ago; i just got to open it today because I was traveling outside the country. This means that both 24 and 18 month extension letters are valid for travel, i.e. the new letter does not invalidate the old one. In the rare case someone loses one extension letter while traveling, the other seems valid for travel and entry to the US.

My wife also got the new 24-month extension letter a few weeks ago and a notice of biometrics waiver last week (we were on vacation and I saw a letter from USCIS on informed delivery; I suspected that was what it was, especially since there were no online status updates, but it made for a little anxiety).

Today I can see I have mail from the USCIS. I will find out what this is when I get in from work, but I am trying to figure out what it is beforehand. Hopefully not a Further Evidence Request...

I think it could be either the 2nd extension letter or a interview waiver from a very quick search through the forum

Yep. 2nd extension letter.

Just glad it was not a request for further evidence.

Hi everybody. We sent in my 1751 early July and received confirmation that the paperwork was received on 7/17. Status online right now says ‘case was received’ and we are at the Potomac Service Center. Fingers crossed for everybody :)

Hi everybody. I had received an 18 month extension letter and now in the mail another 24 month extension letter. I only filed in July and have not gotten invitations for interview or biometrics. Has anybody else gotten 2 extension letters? Is it because they are already so backed up they are expecting it to take longer ? weird huh.
