Wish for once I was posting some help or good news, but this just sucks.

I just noticed that the list your organization area on our I-485 was left blank. My wife was part of an organization (they do some humanitarian work and some advocacy work) and somehow, it did not make it onto the form. I have no problem telling USCIS about the organization, but will this be a big problem? A namecheck delay? A non-issue?

Please help/advise!!!

I see that you'll have an interview soon (August 2007), you have the opportunity to update your file during the interview. The adjudicator will just make you sign over the original I-485, but to be prepared you can bring an updated copy of your I-485.. and see if it will be accepted by the officer. In case of delays w/ checks, I don't think it would give you that. You'll be fine.

I am going to do that too.. I missed one US organization. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

No, don't tell them anything unless asked.

As a rule you should never volunteer information at a USCIS interview unless specfically asked to. If they care about it they will ask you. Blurting out random information to the interviewer will just cause confusion.

I will side with Dr _LHA on this one. I will absolutely not volunteer any information, BUT if asked about the organization part, I will have to tell (really not good to hide anything lest they use it against you). Basically, the section was left blank, so I did not lie by saying none, but it just got left out.

Thanks to everyone for their advice. You guys (and gals) are very reassuring...let's hope the interviewer is the same. On the same vein, did anyone actually get asked about any questions regarding organization memberships?

The consular officer back in my 129F asked me a few questions about it and my profession. It doesn't hurt to be prepared, come what may.

Yeah...my wife also told the consulate officer some stuff about the organization she volunteers for when she was interviewed for the K3. If they bring it up, I printed out a bunch of stuff off the organization's website to provide in case they ask. Otherwise, no ask, no tell policy on the entire interview.

Here's to hoping it all goes well.

Thanks guys!
