well J's new job pays every 2 weeks, and since that's the biggest check, it's hard to adjust to not having that every week! I can't imagine having to go once per month. I'd be broke at the end of every month!

I was looking at a really cute shirt today at Target, tried it on, of course it had to fit perfectly...almost bought it, knew I shouldn't...so I put it back. I said I'll come back next week, after the paycheck. Talk about will power.

you're stronger than me !!! But with me it's always stuff for my kids or the unborn baby. I have a hard time buying stuff for myself.

We both get paid the last day of the month....:unsure::unsure: But hubster is ace at budgeting and I'm getting better. We figured out how much we each need to transfer into our joint account at the beginning of the month. All of our bills are automatically paid throughout the month and I mainly monitor what is oging on in the joint. Then what we have in our personal accounts is like I said before, our own personal money, so that's where fun stuff comes out of. If I want a new sweater for example, I've got to take into account how much of the month is left, what is left to purchase for the month and how much I really want it...hehehe. I like not having the personal stuff coming out of our joint account because then one of us doesn't feel guilty if spending more than the other which might happen if everything came out of one account.

Ours is a pretty similar situation. What I do though, is the amount of money we budget that I can do whatever I want with each month, I automatically take it out of the ATM. That way, it's always with me and I can count it. Once it's gone, it's gone and I can't just spend more out of our accounts since it's all accounted for. So then I have to figure out how much I want something, how much of the month is left, etc like you said.

Teachers here in Georgia, well most of us, get paid once a month...and our salary is pro-rated so that we get paid throughout the summer....and contrary to popular belief, we do NOT get paid for three months to do nothing but sit at home...we've already earned that money. :D

We'll probably have a joint account...and go from there. :)

Dave gets paid once a week, wich I love! But I get paid once a month here in Brazil, which I just hate!! Everyone here gets paid once a month! So it's like everyone here knows what it's like to have no money by the end of the month!

When I get in the US, I'll have the same job as Dave has so I'll get paid once a week too. And right now he has a bank account (I still live with my parents here in Brazil and they pay for everything so the money I make I save for when I go to the US). It's not joint yet but I have access to it and I'm a part of every important decision he makes about money. Like right now we're saving for the trip to Europe so we often talk about how much we should spend that week and how much we should save. We usually ask each other if it's okay to buy something if it's more than U$100..... unless he's getting me a gift or something :P

I would be broke at the end of the month too if I got paid once per month.

At first it was hard as he11...but I've been doing this for 11 years, so I've gotten used to it.
