We just decided to get I-130 done online because we were finished with that part.

Then you should have got the receipt for this immediately.

I would strongly recommend you file AP too (I-765, I-131, I-485, I-693, I-864) etc. Just FYI, it is currently taking 8 months from filing to having EAD/ AP on hand and 2-3 months just for USCIS to receive, cash checks and issue receipts for paper-filed applications.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Yes, you do not want to submit an incomplete package as that would most likely result in the package being rejected and having to re-submit wasting more time.  Do what you can to get those documents you need.

Curiosity killed the cat. When you get time, please tell us how this neighbor knew you are AOSing and what threat she actually said. Is this like an immediate neighbor?

I was about to ask this. Maybe you may be waiting for documents that are not needed or that you can make do without. So what documents are these exactly?

Hi everyone, I have a question , my husband and I just submitted my I-130 online on Friday and will get the AOS mailed by the end of July , last night we had a bit of a run in a neighbor who has threatend to call ICE on , we're now really worried about what will happen if they show up at my house or at the place I do volunteer work as she knows where it is. What happens if ICE show up? Really concerned.😥

Because she knows that we're in the process of filing paperwork. We have not submitted my AOS yet.

Might I suggest that if you move, that you be less forthcoming to those who don’t need to know

Out of status , were working on my I-485 now and shod have it done in three weeks

I will be the contrarian and state that in the unlikely event ICE acts on your neighbor’s tip, if your presence is not currently authorized what can happen is that you are taken to an ICE detention facility.

In addition even after you file I-485 and get authorized presence as a result, even though USCIS will forgive your unauthorized presence the fact that you had unauthorized presence doesn’t mean ICE has to forgive.  I know of at least one case (granted a stranger’s claim on another web site but the claim rang true) that while ICE did not bring the beneficiary to detention, despite having an I-485 receipt, she was questioned and required to report to ICE regularly until her AOS case was adjudicated.

The reason I came to know this is because she asked if this incident had to be noted in her I-751 filing. Hence why it rang true.

She came over to talk to me awhile back asked about my accent and she seemed really nice , I told her I was going through the Immigrantion process . Unfortunately my mother in law talks a lot and she had mentioned I was busy getting paperwork together. Last night we asked the neighbors to please lower the volume of the music she was playing and both her and her husband became became really aggressive and she was yelling on top of her voice .

Understood. Hopefully, you have made sure it is not something that will be a stumbling block to you later. Good luck. No judgment from me.

@Jill Mackie!!! You know by now I do not judge. :)

Well, hopefully, you get them soon enough. I would not be too worried. And please, stop telling neighbors and strangers you are going through AOS. It is no one's business.
