Hello,

On the i-129f form it ask for your certificate number if you are a US citizen. I miss place my citizenship document and don't know how to get my certificate number unless I order a new citizenship document, which will take up to 6 months to receive. My question is will USCIS accept my application if I don't have my citizen certificate number, or can I just present my valid passport to show proof of US citizenship? Thank you in advance,

Greetings!

I was just reading the instruction for fiance' visa. On page 11 of 14, It says " 3. Evidence of US Citizenship which include any of the following"  " E. A copy of your valid unexpired U.S. passport or passport card issued with a validity of atleast five years."

reference: I129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) (uscis.gov)

I think if you that expired passport with a vailift of atleast five years then submit that along with your application ,but just for your record, I would still request a copy of naturalization certificate a it comes handy when needed.

Your passport will be fine for the I-129F.  I used my passport and the petition was approved.

However at the AOS interview, the IO demanded to see my original naturalization certificate (the interview letter said to bring my birth certificate, which I did too, but knew that wasn’t what was actually going to be asked for).

Some people luck out and aren’t asked for their US birth certificate, CRBA, naturalization certificate, or citizenship certificate.

You can gamble or you can start the process to replace your citizenship document.  I would do the latter.  A pending application for a replacement document might be enough to get you through AOS
