4% of Population is Vaccinated - Really Pathetic

So it's been 4 months since this COVID tracker has came out, and in 4 months the Philippines has only been able to inoculate 4% of the population with some type of Covid Vaccines.  At this pace it will be years before they reach herd immunity.  When they first started in March 1st they had a goal of 70 millions fully vaccinated, they quickly realized that was not going to happen and lowered it to 58%.

My wife has relatives that had to drive from Pampanga to Manila to get the vaccine.  It wasn't available any closer to them.  The walked in and got the shot in Manila but it seems outside of Manila, Cebu and Davao, the vaccine is extremely difficult to find.

I don't think you understand herd immunity. We have reached herd immunity for all of the past "pandemics" with no vaccine. In Israel they reported half of their latest cases were people that were fully vaccinated. With 96% of Philippines cases reported as mild and survival rate of over 99% and almost 100% for healthy people with no contributing health problems, they are reaching herd immunity the old fashioned way. People get it then they are immune.

I need the stupid president duterte to start buying vaccines.  I need to see some positive trends.  I am would be happy with 40% of the population vaccinated, at this pace it may be 12 to 18 months before they even see those numbers.

The people in Philippines have to be fed up with all the quarantines, lockdowns, house arrest for anyone over age 60 or under age 20,

So they have a controversy going on about people going to get the vaccine, think that they got the vaccine, but then video comes out of that person being stuck with a needle but no vaccine going in to the arm.

You replied to my comment without addressing anything that I said??? I would be happy if no one got vaccinated. It is not even effective. You will never see high vaccination numbers in the Philippines anyway due to people not trusting it. The world has been trying to hide from this pandemic unlike any pandemic before. Almost everyone that gets covid will survive. It needs to run it's course just like every other pandemic in the history of mankind to reach true herd immunity. That happens when life gets back to normal for all, and the elderly and those with compromised immune systems isolate themselves for their own protection.

My wife was showing me the videos on this yesterday. Pure anger as I was watching, but not surprised. You would think there would be a consequences for those involved, but for those of us that have spent any time over there we know nothing will happen.

I am in Texas we had some of the highest rates of COVID in the USA, maybe the highest.  Now vaccines comes out and all is back to normal.  I am a big believer in the vaccines, and I had about 7 friends, not best or close that died from COVID.

Me I am going to survive Covid, it's the older ones in the mid 60's and older that ate their lunch.

Highest rate of infection per M of population was NOT Texas.  Texas was 30th out of 50

YMMV

Or the news is not trying to scare you anymore.

Statistically unlikely unless your friends were all extremely old, diabetic, or had compromised immune systems. I know of many people that got Covid and no one that died from it. Also there is a BIG difference between dying from Covid and dying with Covid.

Actually statistically it was people 70 and above at more risk but if you are at that age and healthy the risk factor is still low.

I agree I have had about 1/3 of.my office come down with Covid with no issues. Even some of the more obese people had no issues

They did finally book 40 million doses of Pfizer with deliveries starting in late August.  That should be enough to cover the elite and high priority groups.  Once the elite class is fully vaccinated with 'good' vaccine, it will be much easier to declare "problem solved", nothing to worry about anymore, back to business as usual.  No one in Philippines will ever trust China Vax.

If you know how the Philippines works then the mayors who get these will sell them to the highest bidders

I don't watch news or TV.

It's been months since I have seen or heard about someone I know die from Covid, back in the Fall and early winter it was almost a weekly event someone needed prayers for being hospitalized for Covid, and the ones who died was a horrible death due to not being able to breathe.

All 4 of my employees had Covid but they are family and live in same house, I think I had it back in December, but me I just kept working and didn't phase me I only lost taste/smell for 7 days.

The tide has turned in Texas and we are back to normal. I went to Mexico last week, fantastic time down there.  Cancun area and they don't have vaccines in Mexico.  Pretty much everything was back to normal there, all the employees at the resort wore masks, I didn't due to having my Modera shots back in April.

I did the required test 3 days prior to flying back to USA, with no worries about testing positive.  Going back to Cancun area in September and October.  I can fly from DFW to Cancun in 2 hours and 10 minutes and get a 5 star hotel with all inclusive food and drinks and have beaches the blow away the Philippines.   So for now I will be going to Mexico and Philippines can pound sand.
