Experiences with submitting documents after interview

Hi everyone,

Our K-1 interview is currently scheduled for early next month at the embassy in Tokyo.  We have everything we need, with the exception of my fiancée's Canadian CMCP certificate.  We started the ball rolling on this months ago but between documents being lost in the mail and slow responses from the agency we hired to obtain the certificate, it does not look like we are going to have it in hand by the date of the scheduled interview.  We contacted the embassy inquiring into whether we should move the interview (and extend our NOA2) or just keep the interview and they responded as follows:

You may keep your scheduled appointment even if you don't have all documents to submit on the day.

Any documents you are unable to provide on the day of your interview may be mailed to the US Consulate once you have obtained it.

Sounds pretty straightforward but if there's anything I have learned in this process is that there are often nuances that go overlooked.  Does anyone have any experience with submitting documents after the interview that they are willing to share or any advice?

Much appreciated :)

I apologize.  I meant a Canadian RCMP certificate (or a Canadian privacy act police certificate), which is a required document on the embassy's website.

CMCP is an acronym I use for work and I got my wires crossed.  Mondays are my kryptonite.

They will provide you with a form similar to the RFE for I-129 petition and put your visa in AP with refused until they receive the document.(I did not look up the name of the form but they will let you know)  When they ask at the interview, let them know the status and if you have a timeline.  Then once your receive the certificate, promptly mail it to them as the instructions say so they can continue processing.

Awesome that you are this far by the way!
