Hi Guys,

I was getting ready to file a service request for my AOS with a priority date of may 4 2020 and until a few days ago I would have been able to file in a week. But all of the sudden the processing time form a "normal" 10 to 14 month to 10 to 20 months. I looked at almost all field offices and it seems that the processing time frame has changed drastically within the past week. So much for reducing backlogs..

What do you guys think is going on there?

I think backlogs are going to be with us for the next several years.....maybe longer.

I appreciate the optimism

The machine we call the uscis does not immediately react to events of last week or this week.  It takes time to move the needle.

The most likely reason is the same reason that occurs every year during Q2.  That reason is the redeployment of resources away from normal petitions and applications to higher priority and time sensitive petitions and applications such as H1b.

YMMV
