Do we need a covid test before moving to US?

Hi there,

We are moving to the US in 3 weeks. Crossing at the Ontario/Michigan border. Are they requiring a covid test to enter? Also do you know if we have to quarantine before or after entering?

 

My husband will be fully vaccinated before we go and I have my 1st shot.

Thank you! So I'm guessing as far as being allowed to move/cross border we should be allowed cause with our visas we're now permanent residents of the US. 

 

I didn't see anything about needing a covid test if you're entering by land? It did say something for air travel. Hopefully nothing changes in 3 weeks. We'll call the border closer to to make sure.

Just stay up-to-date with what's  happening on the variant front.

Will you finish up (the second shot) before immigrating? Just wondering.

(We are both done here, with Pfizer).

I will if I can but as of right now I can't book my 2nd yet. Not eligible. If not I'll get it right away down there.

Ah...booked my first months ago...for next day appt. Was great!

The second shot was a pain. Ended up in emergency...heart was pounding like a jackhammer. Did CT scans, was in hospital for 6 hours.

And this was Pfizer.

 

Spouse got both within the past month or so, and almost NO ONE was there.  Empty parking lot at Univ of South Florida.

Right now, you can do walk-ins at Walgreens, no appointment  required.

 

SMH...the inconsistency of access is disturbing. We HAVE to do better.

Have family in Port St. Lucie. They've been there decades.

Almost relocated to Atlantic Coast decades ago (Boca), and again when we immigrated from Philippines.

We had never been to the Gulf Coast before, but love it here.

But miss Hawaii (previous primary residence) every single day.

We're going to Jensen beach which isn't far from Port St.Lucie. I haven't been to the Gulf side yet either.

Oh wow glad you're ok now! My 1st was Pfizer but looks like I probably have to get Moderna for my 2nd. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Regarding the vaccine, I think (at least some) doctors advise against mixing the doses, I hear.

 

I preferred Pfizer, and so drove 45 mins to another county to get it next day. Here in Pasco County they were mostly doing Moderna. But that was months and months ago. Now they can be gotten everywhere.

 

Look into the mixing doses thing. I would not mix them. You will definitely have choices here...though some might be a bit further away.

I asked my doc and she confirmed Moderna and Pfizer are the same type of vaccine so you can mix them. Actually in somw cases here that's just what they're doing,  you get whichever they have for your 2nd dose as long as they're interchangeable like those 2

Does anybody has experience using covid 19 antigen rapid screening test by shopper drug mart for US travel? Is it acceptable?
