Hi,

I applied for my passport (expedite), application was processed June 8 and is currently in progress.

I am traveling on July 15 and have the supportive documents.

I know there is still time and it is a little early to worry about this BUT I am still starting to worry about it.

Does anybody know if it is possible to make an emergency appointment while there is an expedite application in progress? I am confused, I know that traveling has to be withing 72 hours to make such an appointment, but if I wait, there won't be any appointments available by the time I need to make an appointment! I don't want to mess up my application by making an appintment now for say July 11 for exemple but I don't want to find myself 72 hours before I have to fly being unable to make an appointment because nothing is available.....Argh

I know I have to be patient and still have time to receive my passport but if anybody has been in that situation, would love some input.

It specifically says on their website that it can take up to 12 weeks for expedited (that includes processing AND shipping), so that's the timeframe you can expect (worst case).

I would say to just reschedule the trip, wait until you get the passport you already applied for. Don't make any plans until you have all your ducks in a row.

I should add that some people have had luck contacting their senator or congress person to speed up the passport application. Did you try that?
