Hi- My question is for other former Indian citizens who went through the OCI process.
I recently acquired US citizenship and have to give up my Indian passport. Am i married or single in the OCI application? Curious to hear how you went ahead with the OCI process.

I KNOW that India does not recognize same sex marriages and therefore i should be "single" on the OCI application form but dont want to run into trouble if, on entry in India, its disclosed that I'm married in a same sex marriage and did not disclose that on my OCI application. Thanks.

This is the problem we encounter when mind makes  general laws for such diverse life where each one is unique. Life is organic and diverse and spontaneous. But laws are made for machines. Lmao. Sorry don't know how this works out. Hopefully you will find a solution. Good luck and God Bless you.

Irrespective of sex, if you are married, you must claim correct marital status in your application form. Otherwise you would be committing a perjury. Indian law applies to Indians in India and not to overseas citizens. At the same time India is not that rigid to not recognize the law of a country that allows same sex marriages, unless it suspects a fraud. So don't be afraid and claim married on your application if you haven't already.

I am at the stage, where I am about to start my renunciation process of Indian Citizenship. The VFS Global form has a Marital Status field. Now, in my Indian Passport I am single. My naturalization certificate says Married. What should be the my status in the renunciation process?
