Hi all. My husband and I are going to apply to have the conditions removed for his 2 year green card (we did the fiancé k1visa) within the next two weeks. However I am 38 weeks pregnant with our first baby. My question is do I need to pay any fees (example, biometrics) fee for our baby if he or she arrives before we submit our application for the I-751? Or do I not need to pay any fees for the baby bc they will be Born here in the US? Thank you so much!!!

In terms of immigration, none. Your baby will be born a US citizen.

I-751 is your husband's application. He is the only person doing the removal. He is the one who's $680 fee will be collected.

As a USC, nothing will be needed on your end other than sign the document.

I highly recommend paying with money order from WU etc. USCIS and CC are not the best of buddies. Search VJ for horror stories regarding CC payments being rejected by USCIS.

Congratulations on the baby.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Your baby will be a us citizen. He/she will never deal with us immigration…  I strongly suggest sending in the documents now if it’s within the timeframe because you aren’t going to have the time, energy or mental capacity to focus on filling out forms and gathering documents once baby gets here… take this from a new mom lol

Good luck and congratulations on the baby- enjoy every day they grow too fast!

What about a personal check? Is that okay to pay?

We waited until our son came to file. I had everything in order except the slot in the giant pile of evidence for his birth certificate. Do not wait to prep anything else, it will become exponentially more difficult with a lack of sleep.

I would still go for money order.

Basically, with money order, the money has been withdrawn from your account and is being held by WU or whatever and just need to be deposited in the next account by recipient. This isn't the case with personal checks, which becomes disastrous should USCIS decide to withdraw "whenever they feel like" and unfortunately, you don't have funds in it. When that happens, your application gets rejected and you've lost time. Currently, it's taking USCIS 2-3 months to receive applications, cash checks and issue receipts.

You can also get cashier's checks free from your bank.

MO are less than a $1 where I am at.

MO has tracking too, if that's what you're worried about.

Personal checks are perfectly fine, and very easy to see in your bank account when they have cashed it (that's the first sign your petition was accepted). Highly recommend personal checks.

It's your choice but but can track the status of usps money order as well to see if it has been cashed.

I have always used money order from usps for petitions/applications with uscis just in case there are some issues with banking regarding signature or authorization. With money order there will never be such issues.

Yes! just make sure you fill it out correctly. The USCIS website for the form will tell u what name to put on the check and so on.

You can track when the personal check is cashed too, at least where we bank.

Did i ever say the opposite? I know that. Some people do not want to go money order route because they think only the personal check or credit card payment can be tracked to see if they've been cashed. I'l just making it aware one can see if usps money order has been chased.
