Hi everyone!

Thanks in large part to this great site, my wife is now here and we're starting the AOS process.

I read that you need to send the I-693 form. My wife had her K3 medical in Pakistan, but never received any paperwork.

Any advice?

Thanks so much!

guest234,

Recognize that instructions referencing K1 also apply to K3.

The visa medical exam forms were in the plain brown envelope that your wife turned over to CBP when she entered the USA.

I'm curious as to why so many civil surgeons are misinformed about giving the full medical vs. just the vaccination supplement.

We just got back from an appointment where I had to go back and forth with the doctor for some time about the fact that we only needed the I693 A as the medical had already been done. In her case, it really wasn't about the money, as at the end of everything, we were only charged for the vaccines that he needed (since he had no records) and not for getting the form signed nor a consultation fee.

But does anyone have a link to something that officially explains the fact that for certain visas, the medical exam is done out of country and the only thing needed in country is the supplemental form?

It seems to me that its just another one of those USCIS inconsistancies - meaning what is stated on the I 485 instructions isn't always how they are adjudicating it.

Also it seems to vary from civil surgeon to civil surgeon as to which ones know what's supposed to be and which ones don't. The ones in my area were particularly snippy when you try to suggest that you only need the supplement. Tossers. Personally I think they just want more $$.

Yeah, I hear you, TracyTN. Luckily this doctor was very nice about it and did her best to help out. She was more nervous about thinking that she had to sign off on the I693 without having any documentation.

BTW, I read in another post where it says in the I485 instructions that K1s don't need the full medical, so that answers my question above!

Does this mean that I don't need to fill out the I-693?

I'm so confused. :(

 (for Gabacha)

I also think the other grey area is that some K visa types get their vaccinations in order at the visa medical, while others do not. So my fiance's DS 3025 has his vaccinations denoted (thank you London!), and I also have his vaccination record from his GP. But while other consulates actually follow the rules for Ks and don't make them have the vaccinations in order for the visa medical, those folks arrive without vaccination documentation, and thus an I 693A seems perfectly reasonable.

In my case, I'm going to see if I can get the I 693A done by mail before July 30th; if not, I'll send what I have, and hope I don't get an RFE...

guest - I think the assumption is that the I 693 form (medical results) should have been turned over to USCIS when your spouse entered the US.

Ooh!! Does this mean Chas is going to be here soon, then?? (Yeah, sorry, I know you're sick of hearing 'when's he coming, then?' )

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

guest234,

Probably not, but you'd need to tell us the date of the visa medical exam to know for certain.

Actually, I am. I hear the question 200000 times a day!

We're trying to get his car sold, last hurdle before he comes over. I'll let everyone know as soon as I know!

TracyTN,

Panel Physicians do not use I-693 to report the medical exam results.

Do they not? I thought they did.

So its only used by the (stateside) civil surgeons?
