Hi,

I just need some clarifications before I hit the sign and submit button for me and my family.

Questions :

1. At the end of the DS260 I need to enter the passport number before the Captcha, when filling the form for my wife and my children, do I enter their passport numbers? or mine?

2.I have completed my university degree which is the highest. Before that 6 Years (Elementary School) + 3 Years (Preparatory School) + 3 Years (High school). Do I mention the high school and university only? Is this correct? and should I enter the dates (starting - ending) for the 3 years in the high school(3 years) or only for Grade 12 (last one year).?

3.My father's name in my passport has different spellings than his passport which was issued 40 years back. Do I just enter his name according to my passport or his?

4.I do have professional certificates such as CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+ and many additional certificates in IT. Do I need to mention those certificates in the education section? Those certificates didn't have a physical institutions to attend at, but I took the exam online and I was certified with them.

5. Since I am an Arab, I have 5 names (A B C D E) in the birth certificate and 4 names ( A B C E)(D REMOVED) in my passport. Do I need to get an "Affidavit of name discrepancy certificate" attested by the notary public that I am the same person exists in both (birth certificate + passport)? or I just use the other names section in the first page in the DS260 form.

6. My wife's name in the birth certificate is "A B C D" while on her passport it is "A B C E". in both her family name is different but the missing family name is there in her father's line in the birth certificate. Does she need to get the same "Affidavit of name discrepancy certificate" attested by the notary public that she is the same person on both birth certificate and passport.

You help will be much appreciated.

Regards

1. Passport number for the applicant whose DS260 it is

2. Please make sure you read the guidance on the form. DS260 requires secondary and higher, and there are “from” …”to” dates required for years of attendance

3. Use your discretion/whatever he normally uses

4. Again, please go by the guidance. If they count as a qualification from a secondary or above educational institution then yes.
5. & 6. I don’t know what this certificate is. Other names used should be fine. If it is a common thing in your country as I assume the CO will understand.

First I would like to thank you for the quick response.

Answer 1 = Understood

Answer 2 = in the American system according to my findings I found that Grades 7, 8 and 9 are called secondary school in the US (called preparatory school here in United Arab Emirates) and grades 10, 11 and 12 are called high school in the US and the same (high school) in United Arab Emirates. Do I still need to fill for the preparatory school in the DS260 form which is the secondary in the US?

Answer 3 = understood

Answer 4 = I got an advice to list them in the training them prior to the current job as a previous needed work experience but with explanation in details in the duties field..

Answer 5 = It is a declaration with two witnesses infront of the notary public that the person mentioned on the birth certificate is the same as the one on the passport(Both original birth certificate and original passport should be on the notary's public table for verification).

Waiting for your help and best regards.

2. Secondary education refers to high school, not sure where you got the idea they are different things. When I did this I used what was considered high school in my country. Use your best judgement. (Btw high school in the US is 9-12, not 10-12.)

4. Well if you got “an advice” from somewhere else to do something different you decide what you want to do. It’s not a life or death answer
5, 6 doesn’t change my answer
